Travels with Corky
http://travelswithcorky.com
This is a blog about my adventures, past and present, large and small. I plan to explore lots of different landscapes, and not just places on the map. I’m talking inner landscapes as well - cultural, intellectual, artistic, spiritual.
I have learned that some of the smallest and seemingly most insignificant encounters can often lead to the most enlightening (and entertaining) moments. I have finally realized that my real focus has been, and always will be, personal growth (both mine and yours).
I will also be offering travel tips, restaurant reviews, food and wine reviews, winemaker interviews, artist interviews, and general observations on this crazy ride we call life.
I am convinced that I grow best and quickest when I am out in the world, experiencing all it has to offer. I have been as far north as Pt. Barrow, Alaska, as far south and west as Christchurch, New Zealand and as far east as the island of Paros in Greece. There is so much more to see and share. I feel like I have finally found my medium, the creative outlet that will allow me to share all this. I am expecting quantum leaps.
I have done many different jobs, including (but not limited to) newspaper boy, lemon picker, short order cook, waiter, lab rat, musician, actor, deck hand, landscaper, whitewater kayaking guide, real estate agent, industrial maintenance supervisor (filling, labeling and packaging equipment), and wine tasting room bartender. Such a restless soul. I am currently a photographer, capturing weddings, senior portraits, families and pets. Check out my portfolio here - Cool Breeze Photography
My true love in photography is fine art and I have exhibited in many shows; juried group shows as well as solo shows. My work is in collections in both the US and Europe. I am working on a separate site to showcase my fine art photography which I hope to launch this spring.
From time to time, between adventures, I will go back and try to make sense of previous travels. In my frantic past I was often too caught up in the moment to make much sense of it. It just was and that can often be a very good thing. But so is reflection and introspection - can’t always see the forest for the trees and so forth. So come along and share the journey. LIFE IS GOOD!!! Wahoo!

Bill Gates at Ted Talks, 2009
As some of you know, I am a huge fan of the Ted Talks. The annual conference was held this week in Long Beach, CA and has just concluded. They all get posted eventually on the Ted website, but it is a lot to digest at once, so I have decided to post ...
Life lesson ~ Learn to saddle your own horse

The last few days have been sunny and warm and it has got me thinking about spending a lot more time outside. Specifically about being outside near, on or in the water. And that always gets me daydreaming about the Pt. Townsend Wooden Boat Festival...
