Tread Heavily

http://www.treadheavily.com

This blog is mainly about me and my life as the father of 4 kids. I put that first, because that really defines who I am at the core. Before I am anything else, I am a father and a husband. Sappy? I know it is, but my wife will read this, and as the father of 4 kids, I have to keep mamma happy.

Beyond that, this site is about my hobbies, my career, and the aspect of my career that I find most interesting. Social media, marketing, usability, and user interaction. On occasion, I will be throwing in some interesting reads I find here and there and will comment on entertainment, my religion, and current events.

Now that the medical clinic is over, we are about to spend our first day getting to know the people and culture of Peru. To get a good idea about how the missionaries work and live, you really need to experience the things they have to get used to an...

  • Day 4: Conviction

Posted on Friday July 10th, 2009 at 23:15 in mission

This morning’s walk was much easier than the first day, so maybe I am getting used to all of the walking we have been doing. I lagged behind the rest of the group, not because I was struggling to make it up the hills, but because I was enjoying...

  • Day 3: Gran Clinica Medica

Posted on Thursday July 9th, 2009 at 23:37 in mission

This morning started with empenadas and a brisk walk through the steep streets of Arequipa. We passed small shops and town blocks that were filled with small fields growing lettuce, onions, and potatoes. Once we reached Jeremy Hall’s house (one...

  • Day 2: Lima Peru

Posted on Wednesday July 8th, 2009 at 09:10 in Perú, mission, mission trip

Today we woke up in Lima, Peru and started our day with what they called an ‘American breakfast’ at the hotel. It was bread with butter and strawberry jam and scrambled eggs. During breakfast we had a few minutes to get to know each other...
