Journalism is an ethical minefield and on occasion we get it wrong. But it is not for want of trying, journalists face considerable pressure to get the best, most evocative story on stressful deadlines. A famous survey once said that journalists are the third least trusted profession after lawyers and second hand car dealers - yet the majority of people in this profession are here out of a want to find the truth and to act as a check on unbounded authority. We generally want to be the good guys!
"Views on the News" looks at the week's contentious issues in the media, the stories you have complained about or that have caused a storm and tries to analyse the way the issue was treated. Hopefully, it will be an interesting insight into the way we and other media organisations work.
