I did a site for a loan modification company and later had them do a modification for me. What I learned is that they do work, are for real and should not be attempted by the homeowner regardless how savy you think you are. I witnessed many of their clients situations and how they came out of it. If anyone is looking for a modification I would recommend this company National Modification consultants www.firstmodification.com
