I have a similar concern as Snowbird, so I'm going to tag on to his/her post. I'm driving to Florida and back in January. Is driving in Florida for a couple of days going to destroy my winter tires? Thanks Snowbird for letting me join in.

I have a peculiar problem. The All-Season tires on my 2009 BMW X5 are just fine up to December and they are perfect for the next 5 months I spend in Florida. My problem is GETTING to Florida. Specifically the 48 hours I spend driving from Toronto through New York, the mountains of Pennsylvannia, West Virginia and Virginia. After that the roads are clear and the All-Seasons work well.

Does anyone know which "all-season" tire works the best? I have had previous good experience with Michelin Cross-Terrains but am wondering if there is something out there that is more suited to my needs.
