My brother was recently diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. He will be age 62 on Nov 3rd, 2008. He and his wife separated 13 years ago and she has been living in Minnesota since. They were never divorced and she is younger then my brother. She has not lived in the home for 13 years and my brother paid the home off several years ago.
Is he eligible for a reverse mortgage? Does his wife need to sign the home over to him? What can be done in this type of circumstance?
