  1. Background.. not sure what it's supposed to be.
  2. your mailbag doesn't match your theme, that doesn't sit well with my OCD like temperament.

Heh. I am very confident that you will find something you don't like about mine. I am afraid that I have become enamored with my design. A bit like an old pair of slippers. A bit smelly but very, very comfortable.

  2. 2 recent post widgets? Correct that left one.
  3. That little smilie with a thought bubble(?)
  4. Youtube vids going past the right line in the posts.
  5. Bullet list those recipes, make it look like a cookbook, easier to read.
  6. Link to things without the urls, it's just messy (white noise ripoff)
  7. love the header, dislike the design.

  1. Right off, I dislike the circle thing/sperm/poll/image thing.
  2. There isn't a need for two search widgets.
  3. Your recommend for amazon products widget.
  4. Way to many ads, remove a few unless it's actually made you money.
  5. Should have a recent visitors widget for BC instead of the other image. To track people, meet people..whatever.
  6. the design is atrocious, wide sidebar and left column.

  Thanks! I took off a few ads, the ones that have never been clicked. I always thought it was a bit much but my husband kept saying it was fine. I got rid of the Amazon recommendation thingy (I was never sure about that one, as no one knows me or cares what I like anyway). And I got rid of the "search my blog" widget.
  
  I've no interest in tracking my recent visitors, so I'll just keep the BC thing that I've got, until I finally get around to getting rid of it altogether and just using the BC meta tag.
  
  The Sperm Meets Egg pic gets changed every week, so that stays put till Sunday. And I have no idea about web design whatsoever. I widened everything because I hated having really skinny long paragraphs, which is how the Blogger Minima template made everything. That's about the limit of my HTML/CSS abilities.

  1. Use the text above the header in the header/description area. It's a bit distracting, could be your point though.
  2. Leather isn't very eco-friendly no? I'd change your avatar. May attract wrong audience.
  3. Put your labels on the left and your ads on the right, may look better.
  4. 3 million different colors of green, a bit extreme.

  1. Waaay to much stuff.
  2. No need for a separate widget for everything, get a scroll box code and slap everything into one convenient place.
  3. Your footer could blend a bit better.
  4. Speaking of footer, you have two hit counters, with different numbers..
  5. Music players aren't really needed, I don't know of anyone that would use it.

  I do like that tag cloud also, really neat. But I wonder if in the long run it reduces the functionality of these labels. From a user interface pov, a reader will have to play with that sphere to find what they might be looking for, and for a web presence you have to think in terms of seconds. But on the other hand it's really cool.

ChicaX, all you've said so far about why you hate their blogs is the design. Anyone can do that in five minutes, most of us already do by habit. You're not exactly offering any real advice here.
Ironically, it's because of topics like this that I left out the design factor and stuck to the pre-built one.

  I can't say much else, because it's pretty obvious that what your writing, and doing is working for you.

  Thanks for the tips. Yeah, the template for the first one allows a nice hierarchical drop-down menu, which is great, because I want detailed categories on that blog. I don't think the drop-down menu functions the same way with the other template. Too bad.

  You should also setup separate posting accounts for the two of you so your names are displayed with each post you write. I can assume Carlson isn't raving about his fabulous breasts, but a little clarity would only help.
  
  Setup an RSS feed. It's easy to do and will only help grow the inevitable 'Carlson's sumptuous man breasts' fan club.
