So I had exams today, which through some hellish act of god and his son I was 2 minutes late to so I wasn't allowed to do the test.

More on that here: backstagemedia.net/292/exams-part-2

Seriously, god hates me (with good reason) but this is just harsh...

Ever been late to an exam or appointment because of some stupid 'act of god' thing?

God, am I glad I'm done with school forever! The pressure and humiliation is something I don't miss. Hope, this "act of god" doesn't cost you too much.

Wow! I'm so sorry this happened. Is there any chance of speaking to the prof and getting permission to write a replacement exam?
    1. TigerXtrm
It's okay, we get a replacement test by default if you fail the original test. So I get to use that one instead later on.

So what is this Act of God? Could yuo elaborate more? Haha, I'm just curious.

Read the blog, my friend. I put the link there for a reason ;).

I totally know how you feel.
I've forgotten to sign up (we had to do that online) for an exam once, and I only found out THAT day! So I actually did study hard, but wasn't allowed to take the test. It was in my senior year of university when it happened, and I felt soooo bad, that I had tears in my eyes!

Well, "god" didn't had anything to do with this, it was just me being stupid and dumb!

I actually showed up at the wrong time for a Final Exam once, but luckily the professor let me take the test later in the week. It actually worked to my advantage because a teaching assistant just handed me the text, told me to find somewhere quiet in the building and bring it back when I was done.

I knew the subject matter pretty well, so being unsupervised i still didn't look up too many answers.

Since I dont know what the act of god is that occurred.. I can only say that perhaps you should have planned accordingly and given yourself way more than enough time to get there......

Read the link before writing a reply?

Hate to be party pooper, but ... no one's to blame, but yourself. So, even if there WERE a God, you can't blame him here.

If there's a wee chance something could cause a delay that's beyond your control, account for it and leave much earlier. I'll be 2 hours early for something, if it means not being even 1 minute late.

    But, that's just me ...
    1. TigerXtrm
You can't account for everything. On a normal school day it would take me 15 minutes tops to get from home to school. I left home almost an hour prior to the exam and still got in late. I think I made enough room for error on that one ;).

Also I'm not religious in the slightest, I'm just sarcastic :).

@timethief... hahaha... How did you do that?! google translater?! I did understand what you said though! WELL, you should come!

Off-topic: I used Yahoo's Babelfish. Following the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre the last remaining family members from my father's side, who were French Huguenots fled France and went to the Netherlands. There our relatives remained until most came to New Amsterdam among the English immigrants. During WWII my male relatives, who were Canadian soldiers there during the liberation of Holland, met some of our distant relatives in the Netherlands. Since then one of my brothers has visited and enjoyed the country very much. As I still have some remaining distant relatives in the Netherlands today, and I would love to travel and to look them up one day.

Yeah, some chick hit my car before a final exam for a class that I needed in order to transfer to anothery university the next semester. I had a tough choice to make: either stay there, get her info and all that bs with the cops and insurance, miss the exam, try to plead with an asshole instructor to let me take the exam, while risking the delay of my transfer for a year because the class is only offered every other semester... or say "Chick, it's your lucky day because I have an appointment to get the f-word out of this place, and I'm not going to stay here another year because of this bs. Peace out."

Needless to say, I transferred the next semester and my car still looks like someone took a sledgehammer to it.

Seems like you made the good choice. Unless my car was totaled I think I would have done the same ;).

Dude I slept through one of my 8 am physics midterms because i was up all night writing a paper for another class and, like a fool, decided to nap at 7...Now im studying super hard for my final which is tomorrow at 8 am because i need to get like a perfect score to save my grade.

Im glad you still have a chance to take the exam though. thats good
    1. TigerXtrm
As long as I don't fail it, I should be okay. Now if I do fail, that's when I'm in a shitload of trouble.

If it makes you feel any better I got glandular fever and fell asleep 10 minutes into my first exam and was too ill to do the others...
    1. TigerXtrm
That sucks! Did you get to redo them?
  13. Stillthinking
I actually missed the midterm to my European twentieth century art class out of sheer stupidity. The professor allowed me to take it the next week, but docked me one letter grade. Its a good thing I got a 98 on the exam itself, because it got knocked down to an 88.

I am sorry to hear that. That sucks.

I was late to one of my kids field trips because I had a flat tire. I finally got it fixed and drove there on my own. I still missed half the play, but at least I made it.

And if it makes you feel better, god hates me too.
    1. TigerXtrm
You made the effort into getting there, that's good enough right?

And god hates everyone, let's be honest ;).
    2. MissSuzie
"And god hates everyone, let's be honest"

Not if you read some of the religious threads here. He seems to have his favorites.
    3. TigerXtrm
They should rename this place GodCatalog, huh?
    4. Friday13
And change the slogan to Explore the Godosphere.
    5. TigerXtrm
Hehe that would be an awesome April Fools joke :D.

Do not blame god or anybody. Just blame yourself. Perhaps any act of God there will be some reasonable excuses and ask the exam facilitator in order for you to get special exam!
