Finished my 200th post today! Since I've been up since March 15 - that means, I'm averaging about 100 posts a month (doesn't feel like that - but I guess it has been about 3/4 a day!)
Number 200:

This "appeasement" rhetoric of the right, which you seem to be parroting, demonstrates a disturbing willingness to twist the past to suit political purposes in the present. It's ugly. I don't care if Bush was talking about Obama, Carter, or anyone else. He was making a nonsensical analogy in the hopes of elevating levels of fear.

Come on. The linked post was about "appeasement", regardless of what the topic is about. Since you have worked for the Bush administration on detainee issues, I'm not feeling all that much like congratulating you.
And in case others aren't clear about what my problem with appeasement rhetoric is, here: Chamberlain's "appeasement" lay in what he gave away to Hitler in Munich, not any conversation he had with the Nazi government.
It would be interesting to have a debate about how (or how not) to engage Iran. Even Gates talks about doing it. Throwing the "appeasement" label around won't help that debate, though it is fun to see McCain joined so closely to Bush in the media, because it's not good for McCain. Still, appeasement is an easy word to remember. Just repeat it often enough and hope it sticks. Mentally and morally shoddy. But shoddy has got results in the past, so knock yourself out.
