It is my personal belief that many things will happen on 2012, just as many things happen each year.

Earth will continue to turn as it does now, people will continue to ĺ̒ͤͨͮ̿ive their lives and nothing will happen that's out of the ordin̑̌͋̔ͣ͊̂ary.

Those who look at the Ṁͩ̏ayan calendar should be more worried about the Gregorian one, which ends in about six weeks. He comes. I'm guessing the Mayans w͠e̢ren't too worried about it, and they probably just ran out of space on the rock that will d͏es̀tr͟oy us all.

It will be interesting to see just how many crazy r̘i͕̹ͅͅt͖u͔̹̼̱̳̭̜a̘̝̲̣l̻̺s͚̣ will take place in the final months of that year, but I doubt there will be a place to hͭ͒͗i͑͊̾̃d̿ͭͯ͑̋e̓ when ḧ̆̇ěͩ ̇͗́̉ͨc̀̏̏ͪ̋̔o͌̋͋̐ͦ̏͒̑̚mͣ́̾͛ͥe͑sͤ̐.̐͛̀̒ ͌͂͊T̽ͭͬͥh̐͆̇͒e͆ͩ̄̎ͤ̆̀̈́ ̐ͨ̐ͪͣ̃̃N͛ͪ̏̈́̏̌̃ȅzͩͮ͌ͧpͤ̄̍̔e̓͂͆ͪr̍ͭd̅ǐ̍ͥ̀̂͂aͥ̾̂n̍ͨ̔ ̋̇͋ͮ̄͑h̎͋̔̃̈́̍̎i̊ͥͭ̋̃ͤv̂e͛͂ͮ-͋ͨ͌͋͛̏m͛̉̾̚i̅ͫ͊ͮ̐͋͒͗n̊̈̊̍ͥ̚d̅̏̍ͣ ̋ͥ͑̋̊o̔̽ͣ̋͑fͫ̅͗̄̋ͯ̒͌ͣ ͐̋̇ͬͧͣͧͧc̏̈̅̒̈́͆͛ͦhͬaͮ͋͋͛ͫͥͥͨ̑oͤ̏̓͂sͭͩ̽͒ͮ̓́ͨ.̑ͦͤ ̓ͤ̓̍͋̑Z̅̆aͤ̾l̏́͑gͭ͌͗͒̍͐̊͋oͧ͂ͭͩͩ̀.̍̎ ͯ̒͑̽͂H͒̄̄͛e̓ͭ̊̍ͩͭ ̇ͩ̂͋̎w̾̈̿̔̎h̾̃̈́͂͂ͬ͆̾o͊ͬͫ ̇̉̂̐W̿͐͂͊̔̎̋a͊̌ͧ̄í̀ͧ̐̔tͨͧ͋s͊ͯ̎ͫͪ̽̊̚ ̐ͭ̔ͮ͌̓B̓͋ͦ̇͆̌̉e̊ͪͣͫ̏ͤ͋̓hͭͥ̍̽̿i͊̽ͦ̒n̓̀ͤdͦ̌̋̋̊̄́ ͧ͒̈́̇̌̔ͧTͣͮ̈́hͫ̅̅̎̉͗̽̓̉e̿̄ͥ ͋̈ͨ̏̀͗W͋ͬ̈ͯa̓̐̿̆͒̋̑l̉ͦ̏̏̑͆͂͛͒l̉ͦ̿̊͂.ͨ̚

Your clock runs fast, Friday. Looks like you already endured 2012!
  3. harveyavatar
Not sure if the HAARP weather control technologies were in view of an apocalyptic 2012, but this seems to have been in large part conjured as I type.
  4. PureCommonSense
In 2013 people are going to laugh at this so hard.
    1. scifigene
      What people?
    2. JoelKlebanoff
I think the people who are already laughing about it will be laughing even harder in 2013, but the believers will still believe. They'll simply say something to the effect of, "the prediction was right, but we simply got the year wrong because of the differences between the Mayan and Gregorian calendars. The catastrophe will, in fact, happen in 2022 [or whatever year they settle on]."

There are precedents for that sort of thing. I believe it's happened with some date-specific predictions of the coming (or the return, depending on your beliefs) of a messiah and the predictions of Nostradamus.
  5. Theresa111
I believe something will happen and I loved the CGI in the movie. I want to see it again. It was much better than I thought it would be.

I believe no one knows the time of the coming nor the end.
    1. harveyavatar
      Hyperinflation, fer sure.
  6. onceafortnight
I believe there are some unusual astrological activities that are supposed to occur in 2012. I personally think we are more likely to see something happen as a result of what we have been doing over the past fifty years to our planet rather than any exterior convergence of matter in space or whatever else is being used to proclaim the end of life as we know it.

We're definitley going to precipitate the end it's just a matter of when.

    Numbers useless numbers!

I know something is gonna happen, i know something gonna start!! and here i'm ready. Take me!!

If I could find someone to bet with me, I would bet an exceptionally large sum of money that the world will survive 2012. Why? Because I'm 99.999999 percent certain that it's a ridiculous myth, so I should make a lot of money on my bet. And in the exceedingly unlikely event that I'm wrong about that, there's not much chance of anyone collecting on that bet, now is there?
  10. weblogian
I think the Indian fortune teller are much better than this story/myth
  11. thecantankerouscan
    2012 myth = jibberish
  12. cristlegirl
I think that there may be some big event that happens that year, but we have that almost every year anyway. I think that the Mayans just ended their calender with a date far far into the future. (for them anyway).
  13. Spootmyway
    Interesting Opinions.
  14. DailyBeerReview
2012? There's still beer in 2012 right? Other than that, I don't really know the story, but Nostradamus or whatever wannabe is doing prophesies these days can kiss my ass!
  15. FaithfulinPrayer
I don't believe in the myth. Every thing that would normally happen in the course of a year will happen.

I would be more worried about the millions of tons of carbon dioxide they plan to funnel into the earth via the American Energy bill (cap and trade).
  16. AnastasiaFB
I'll take bets on 2013, say a dollar a head. What have I got to lose? If I win then I'll have a super new year. If I lose; well, who cares. :-))
    1. dbowles1017
Ill take you up on that bet!
  17. laurencefosgate
But the Mayans, they had everything figured out, right? That's why they killed eachother in senseless wars, destroyed their environment and never invented the wheel. Makes sense to me that these geniuses knew when the world would end.
    1. dbowles1017
The Mayans didn't need wheels. They were aliens. They had hover crafts.

And who doesn't fight senseless wars and destroy the environment?
  18. laurencefosgate
Those aliens seem to have really lost their powers once they started hanging around earth. Also, hovercraft need wheels for their filing cabinets.
    1. dbowles1017
Who uses filing cabinets these days?
  19. laurencefosgate
Not anymore, but hovercraft are kind of dated too.
  20. TheCrazyhorse
It is believed by others that December 2012 will be the end of the world..so what? Are you prepared? Let's find out but nothing to worry about just keep on moving! Be good always!
  21. BestTradeBid
I recon some government officials looking for something to do will get the idea that they need to prepare us for 2012 and in doing so, will convince the masses to jump through their hoops, being led like sheep to the slaughter, all in the name of being good for us and the country. A bit like the global warming scam, and remember the y2k bug.
  22. NatetheGrate
Well, if the world ended in 2012 and everybody died, there would be nobody left to notice. So, it doesn't matter. Give it a rest.
  23. BestTradeBid
Doesn't bother me at all. The end of the world as we know it will be slow and brutal and not far away. No one knows any dates or times or years, it's only guess work. You just have to be ready. Kinda really glad I won't be here to see it. If you think big brother knows too much about you now, this is nothing compared to the control we will be under. Gone will be any freedom we enjoy now.
  24. woody7906
I posted a blog entry about this..the 2012 thing is a joke, its driven by many media intrests to make profits..no one knows when the world will end...
  25. ilovehadith
Too early for the world to end, we still have major happenings left to see.
  26. alivasim
2012 is a bit early....2712 or something might make me think...many activities are undone yet...
  27. grassrootsinc
I'm pretty sure Amanda Peet and John Cusack are going to survive. No, but seriously... it's a hoax. However, maybe everyone should take the hype and use it to their advantage. The Mayans don't see it as an "end of the world" per-say... they see it as a "great awakening" or "new beginning". In America, at least, I think a "new beginning" is in order. But if the earth's core is going to boil the oceans and violently shake tectonic plates, causing supervolcanoes to spue millions of tons of ash; blacking out skies and developing a perpetual nuclear winter... I'm getting in John Cusack's limo.
    1. harveyavatar
"The Mayans don't see it as an "end of the world" per-say... they see it as a "great awakening" or "new beginning""

I was also under that impression. 2012 is supposed to see a magnetic polar shift capable of opening peoples "consciousnesses". Hence, in part, the drive to put up electromagnetic towers of all stripes.

A thousand years ago a couple Mayan clerks were working on the calendar. They told the king, "hey, we have everything figured for the next 100 years." "Not good enough. Keep working." The Mayan clerks went back to work. They calculated. They carved in stone. They went back to the king, "hey, we have the calendar all set for the next 500 years." "not good enough," the king said, "keep going."

The Mayan clerks went back to work. They calculated. They carved everything into stone. They went to the king, "hey, we have the calendar all set for the next 1,000 years. Surely that will be long enough." The king said, "keep working. I want the calendar out until the end of time." The clerks looked at each other. "King," they said, "funny coincidence . . . . . "

Regardless...I say we spend the next two years living like complete hedonists!!!

      I am SO down.
  30. russianmodels
Saw it last night and did a review of it on my Hadean site.

Honestly I think PinkMonkey has the right idea. You can start here doll!

Seriously though, I would certainly place some stock in the Mayan Long Calender myth. Why not, if it is true hopefully people will start living their lives so that nobody looks back and says "what if".

In regards to the movie itself. Great special effects, great story, and a few good actors but Danny Glover seemed to go through the motions and WTF happened to Woody?!?
  31. GenuineWoman
It depends what the majority of people think about.
  32. casinobonuschips
If predictions are told about each year then sooner or later one of them will come true as some things have in the past. I guess we will just have to wait an see if someone got lucky with their guess.
  33. maximo2353
  34. armywife65
Like they say "Crap Happens" or Not!! If something does happen, there ain't nothing we can do about it.
  35. DAVI
Stupid people! The world already ended in 2000 when a group of toaster ovens led by a malfunctioning Sega Dreamcast overthrew mankind. Keanu Reeves came and tried to save you but, you people were so out of it that you mistook him for a 'B' movie trilogy.

Just a "myth and predictions". Anyone can predict....

Wow..it's the biggest issues in the world in current: 2012 Doomsday. The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of beliefs and proposals positing that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur in the year 2012. The forecast is based primarily on what is said to be the end-date of the Mayan Long Count calendar, which is presented as lasting 5,125 years and as terminating on December 21 or 23, 2012. Arguments supporting these scenarios are drawn from a mixture of archaeoastronomical speculation, alternative interpretations of mythology, numerological constructions, and alleged prophecies from extraterrestrial beings.

This phenomenon makes an antusiasme from the people in the world and The "2012 Doomdays" Movie which directing by Nick Everhart (Director) and Naomi L. Selfman (Story Writer) be the most wanted movie in current. According to Google, in India, "2010 movie" be the second most wanted keyword in Google Search in the last 7 days after "weater forecast". In Indonesia, the word "2012 movie", "2012", and "2012 kiamat are the favourite phrases in last 7 days.

There are 2 options here, it will end, it will not end.
Between now and then there will be millions of posts about this date.
    2012, when the calender ends

The sacred Aztec calendar is properly called the Eagle Bowl. It represents the solar deity Tonatiuh. The amazingly accurate calendar has been in use in various forms for more than 2,000 years. A Zapotec prophecy, based on the Eagle Bowl, states:

“After Thirteen Heavens of Decreasing Choice, and Nine Hells of Increasing Doom, the Tree of Life shall blossom with a fruit never before known in the creation, and that fruit shall be the New Spirit of Men.”

The 13 Heavens and 9 Hells were each 52 years long (1,144 years total). Each of the 9 Hells were to be worse than the last. On the final day of the last Hell (August 17, 1987), Tezcatlipoca, god of death, would remove his mask of jade to reveal himself as Quetzelcoatl, god of peace.

In the mythology of the Aztecs, the first age of mankind ended with the animals devouring humans. The second age was finished by wind, the third by fire, and the fourth by water. The present fifth epoch is called Nahui-Olin (Sun of Earthquake), which began in 3113 BC and will end on December 24, 2011. It will be the last destruction of human existence on Earth. The date coincides closely with that determined by the brothers McKenna in The Invisible Landscape as “the end of history” indicated by their computer analysis of the ancient Chinese oracle-calendar, the I Ching.

The Mayan calendar is divided into Seven Ages of Man. The fourth epoch ended in August 1987. The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Only a few people will survive the catastrophe that ensues. In the fifth age, humanity will realize its spiritual destiny. In the sixth age, we will realize God within ourselves, and in the seventh age we will become so spiritual that we will be telepathic.

Is it also the time for Book of Revelations?

If we are faced with doomsday, than it cannot be avoided.
Maybe that is why they are rushing all the testing on the moon.
So, some may survive to carry on the species, so it can destroy it later down the road.
  44. bhuvandesai
Do you even know people in South and West America have already booked rooms in hotels to stay together on that day believing that something is gonna happen. I personally feel nothing is gonna happen, its just a myth and a buzz for IM to write blogs, create website and people to promote as much as possible using this 2012 buzz. We are just getting mesmerized by it.
  45. honeychuckles
I think that we can't control what happens to the world or universe, and should just live for the moment. Why fuss over something that is out of our hands? I don't mean for my comment to seem pessimistic, but we're not (humans) going to be here forever. The Earth has cycles, and we're just apart of it. Enjoy life, and if 2012 happens, it happens. 2012 is in the future, focus on the present. =)
    1. BIGGIDYBONG
Its interesting that you say that because if someone truly believed their world would end in just 2-3 years time they certainly would be living the rest of their life very differently. Their day to day life as it was would porbably be out the window.

There doesn't seem to be any mass civilian preparation movement taking action for their survival so I'd say generally people don't really think it will happen but the story just appeals to them.
  46. ViNZ20
2012 is so scary for humans..but GOD is the captain of our own ship:)
