I just wrote a small blog post on how I think I will be on 20 December 2012. What do you think you will be doing on that day?
December the 20th is the day before the predicted End of the World Day.

The year 2000 was suppose to be the end of the world. I believe that if it does occur that it cannot be so easily predicted. New Age writers cite Mayan and Aztec calendars which predict the end of the age on Dec 21, 2012. Just cause some old calendars end during this time...I don't believe it will be the end. Yet, everything is always a possibility. lol

Mayan did never predicted the end of the world, they predicted the end of an era on their astrological calendar.
Now maybe we will have and end of the earth because some scientists make a lawsuit against the Large Hadron Collider Experiment because theory predicts that it will create mini blackholes but instead of evaporating they could grow exponentially so as to swallow the earth

What I call the "prophets of nonsense" are creating a new Y2K hoax. There are basically two "schools". The first one predicts the end of the world as we know it through unheard of catastrophes. The other one believes that humans will reach some higher level of consciousness. Although the second one is a more positive prediction both "schools" have nothing to do with the Long Count calendar, ancient or contemporary Maya beliefs, or science for that matter. It is just complete nonsense. If you believe this, you probably believe in Santa Claus or Jesus Christ as well. I am trying to expose as many of these prophets as possible. Currently my list has reached eight deluded prophets and the list seems to be endless... It will keep me busy until December 21, 2012.

It's the end of a calendar, not the end of the world.
My calendar ends 31 December 2009. Shall I expect a cataclysm the next day? Or put up a new calendar?
There is no new Mayan calendar for the 22 of December 2012 because the Conquistadores massacred the Mayans and pretty much wiped out their traditional culture, leaving no one able to put together the next calendar.
This whole idea is just stupid.-
There are about 7 million people who is categorized as Maya today and their culture is alive and kicking. As a matter of fact, the Maya celebrated the end of Baktun 11 in 1618, several generations after the Spanish conquest. The tzolkin calendar is still used in for example Momostenango. However, this has nothing to do with the 2012 hoax. That is just Christian apocalyptic ideas transferred to another context.
