I meant to add a few as teasers:

    # Be mentored: offer someone doughnuts!
    # Monitor inbound links.
    # Don’t link out more than you have inbound links.
    # Write a a dynamite “ABOUT” page for your blog.
    # Have a “Best of” page.

Glad to hear you guys are being helped by them. I'm not new to blogging, been doing it since December of 2006. I put pen to paper to make this list so dig in: I believe in each tip.

Lists are great to read and great to write on blogs. I stole that from Seth.

great list, but I wonder about this one:
Don’t link out more than you have inbound links
what if you are still fairly new or have just moved to your own domain?

It is, the way I understand it, like an economy. The more backlinks you have, the more you can afford to link out. I would let everyone who you link out to that they are featured in your blog. If they don't tend to link back to you, I think it's sensible to stop linking to them. I think as bloggers we think we have to link to everything we mention. We don't have to and more importantly, it can decimate our pagerank if we go crazy with it.

I checked out your list. Great list. Hopefully I will be able to bang out as many of your suggestions in the next few weeks. As a new blogger, your suggestions were--and are--priceless.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment. I really appreciate your encouragement. It is better than anything to hear I've helped someone.

Very thorough! Much of this can definitely apply to anykind of website, not just blogs

Half the time, blogging tips aren't feasible for me.
Or seem like a weird cycle. For example, the inbound links one. I get almost no inbound links, though I link to people daily- no one wants to reciprocate, other than following me.
No one wants to guest blog on a miniatures blog.
no one adds me to social media etc etc.
    But it's a good list.
