Discussions

As of late, I've noticed there are a lot more BC members who saturation bomb threads with links to their website, whether or not it is related to the discussion they're polluting.

I think these people need to understand their place in the universe, so I'll spell it out if I may:

You are hated. If there was a grotesque traffic accident in which comment spammers were run over by a tractor trailer loaded with nuclear waste, people would laugh. If we were in Roman times and the Emperor decided to throw you to the lions, the rest of us would buy tickets at inflated prices, buy the overpriced popcorn, and applaud when the oversized felines had you for lunch.

Furthermore, people think you are unimaginative scum who have no other means of getting attention besides repeating yourself endlessly, rather like the annoying toddler who keeps shouting "I want, I want" in order to pressure his or her parents into stopping off at McDonalds for an apple pie or styrofoam ice cream.

Finally, people wish you would go away. One of the perils of an online life is the constant barrage of spam; there is enough repetition of stupid, unimaginative messages which are entirely irrelevant. The height of this phenomenon is the woman who receives an ad for Viagra; you are a close second.

I doubt this will stop any of you, but your actions carry a grievous curse: because you generate such ill will, the wheel of karma will spin, and your pseudo-clever activities, your phony sincerity, your diabolical nonsense will lead to nowhere but the hell of failure.

Now, sod off.

I agree for the most part, except for grotesque death fantasy, that for the most part is disturbing. Psychologist anyone...

Obviously, you haven't received enough spam yet. Sweet reason only goes so far. Besides, I'm convinced many of them are bots, rather than human.

    AGREED!! AGREED!! AGREED

    what about ki$$ers

    I just got one then

a private msg that reads "Dear Just added you and visited your blog. Given 2 ki$$es to your blog as well. Hope for the same favor. Thanks"

i replied "thank you for your generosity but I don't need kisses -- I have a girlfriend for that -- i would advise you to stop doing that and build some meaningful relationships with members to generate a solid base that will propagate a steady flow of traffic"

I find it funny that I actually have two blogs listed. it sounds a bit like flirting.

"i bet you say that to all the good looking members"
    2. greencurmudgeon
I get ones like that - what I find curious is the blogs that are usually behind the spammer - like "Make money NOW through Google Adwords, a Dead Calf and a Wooden Spoon"

Sorry, that makes it sound more interesting than it actually is.

You made this sound so much classier than my usual response of fcuk off! Well said!
    1. Rivy
Whew...Miss Suzie. Thank you, thank you very much for not giving ME that usual response. I would have gone into moody funk for a week! Reminds me, how lucky we sometimes are...and not even realize it. (big smile.)
    2. MissSuzie
Ralph, I don't consider you a spammer. Feel free to fill my shoutbox with whatever. After all, I am one of those ladies standing at your mailbox and screaming when you open the door.
    3. wagerwitch
Me too -- mee toooooo! Except I peek in the windows every so often.

    Two words for them
    "Jock Itch"

This should be a sticky post.

I don't think this is new, in fact the admin guys are really onto it and have tried to prevent it as much as possible.

    Would you like my link?
    1. legbamel
Get to the naughty corner, AG!

Admin do a great job, but some days I swear that I spend as much time reporting as I do reading. That's the spammers' fault rather than anything admin is or isn't doing, but it does make it harder to enjoy the community.

Haha, this was awesome. Well said!

Ignore..........close the door [ know its difficult ] as nobody likes to knock on the closed doors
  10. nothingprofound
Sorry, I do not concur with any of the above. Very harsh. God bless all spammers and comment-junkies, and good health to them all!
    1. RudrakshRudranjali
      yes you are right,
    2. greencurmudgeon
If I didn't think you were joking, I'd be calling the mental health authorities on you now. No human being with any sensitivity, feeling or intellect can stand the repetitive nonsense of comment spammers without rising up in revolt.
    3. nothingprofound
Wonderful, GC! Not only are you condemning the spammers to hell, but you're having me committed to an insane asylum! Is nobody safe in BC country any longer? (Actually none of it does bother me-I take it with a grain of salt. Just detached or amused, I guess.)
  11. IntoTheAzureSea
I get some messages on BC from users I hardly know, asking me to comment on their blogs. Frankly speaking it feels awkward to be sent stuff like that.
    1. Rivy
I just did. I like your message. Left a post. (Smile)
  12. IntoTheAzureSea
Ok, so what I did a few minutes ago was that I removed alot of people on my BC friends list. I don't need "bots" or "people who have the personality of a Central Processing Unit" to flood my profile page.
  13. rosie2305
I heard a comment the other day and it said "the only good thing about spammers is that they let you know what products are hot in the market" Good if you sell stuff I suppose?
    1. greencurmudgeon
I don't believe that - spammers generally sell fraud and drugs.
  14. melindaville
LOL--too funny. Great post and I agree entirely but spammers are (among other things) too stupid to understand your point.

After all--they SPAM! Which doesn't take a whole lot of intelligence!
    1. greencurmudgeon
Melinda - what bothers me is that there must be some people who actually respond to spam, otherwise it would cease to exist. Unless, of course, some things are simply too stupid to die.
    2. melindaville
That's true. There are stupid responders as well as stupid spammers.

But then, some people just love attention so much that they actually like talking to telemarketers. Go figure, GC!
    3. greencurmudgeon
Melinda - it's all about validation, really. If one needs to be validated by someone who is openly exploitative, well, therein lies a case for therapy.
    4. melindaville
Believe me, GC--if everyone who should get therapy did get therapy, then the world would be a far better place.

      IMNSHO, of course.
    5. greencurmudgeon
Melinda - ah, but are there enough therapists to handle that level of demand?
  15. KalinagoEnglish
    Green.

Thank you. Such a pleasure to have accidentally found this posting as I was clicking out of yet another no-brainer "friending" me for dollars.

YES - these idget commenters are hated - the dingbells who think that popping over to my page in here and telling me that they have clicked sm$$les - or ki$$es, whatever it is that they write.

DUMB and STUPID. I'm blogging - I don't give a crap about their ads.

I would like to have a sign I could put up on my page that says "Don't freaking hound me in here and make me waste time finding out if you are a real person that I want to network with."

If you are real, write me a real message.

    Karenne

    Jeez...
    1. greencurmudgeon
Karenne - thank you. I believe that it's going to take an out and out rebellion against these folk, a revolution in disgust and disdain, which is going to make them stop.

I think I'm going to start stalking spammers who comment in my shoutbox...start acting really clingy and angry with them when they don't reply to my shouts...I think it'll be fun!
    1. timethief
Hey, let's form a scam the spammers group. I'd love to work a few of them over.
    2. Epicharis
haha! I think we should! It'll really freak out the human spammers when we start asking when we can move in together!
    3. timethief
No sh*t. I'm up for it if you are.
