A stupid newbie question

I consider changing blog platform and maybe switch from blogger to wordpress as I don't like my layout, I would have a "fluid width" one(I know it 'll be tough, but that's not really the problem). I have several questions, and I do thank in advance those who will "switch the light on" for me.
1. Can I keep my actual blog AND open an other one with another name but same content?
Or would it be better to transfer everything on the new one?
2.Whatever the answer to Q.1, Will I have to resubmit everything at BC (and at other sites too)or just notify that I have another blog (identical to the one that was already approved)?
3. this question is more for those who already did this switch from blogger to wordpress, I would be happy to hear from your experience, problems and opinion
Thank you very much :o)

1) I think it's better to target it on one name&blog, that way visitors won't be confused. I would transfer everything to a wordpress.
2) Yes, you will have to resubmit of you are using different name, url...
3) I started with wordpress on my own hosting plan, but I have experience on blogspot and i think wordpress can give you a better control on evertthing, like SEO, layout, speed...
Hope this helps. -
I've heard a certain amount of warnings that duplicate content on 2 different sites gets penalized slightly by Google. For instance, here's an article on Webconfs about it:
www.webconfs.com/duplicate-content-filter-article-1.php
(I love Webconfs by the way. It's got a lot of free SEO tools and tips.)
I find that Wordpress is a lot easier for me, at least, to manage and tweak than Blogger was.
One other tidbit: under Wordpress' manager, there's an option to import all posts, users, and comments from other blogging platforms, including Blogger. I don't know if this is available on blogs hosted on Wordpress.com, though; I've installed Wordpress to run on my own website. -
I have both Blogger and Wordpress.com blogs. The latter will let you import Blogger blogs. I did that and then killed most of the content in the Blogger blog, just leaving links to the new one. In the process, I also chose a real simple format on the old one, since I had no use for the sidebar anymore.
Here's the stripped down old blog: ms-language-services.blogspot.com/ (Read past the first two posts to see how I eliminated the others, just leaving a link and short note.)
Here's the new one: language4you.wordpress.com
One thing to keep in mind with Wordpress's free service: they don't allow javascript, so third-party widgets usually don't work. They're also not very keen on ads and affiliate links. Make sure you read their TOS before jumping ship.
If this is all about layout, you might also try searching for free Blogger templates online to see if there are any you like. -
Thank you very much for your input.
In fact the difficulty here lays especially in the choice...both platforms have many good points as well as not so good ones...I'm still feeling like you do kdawg68, lol...
Many many thanks to Greekgeek and Stoneman, I bookmarked Webconfs and I'll certainly return there as I saw things I'm interested in as well. The article you linked me at was what I searched for.
Stoneman, ty for showing a concrete example and btw I did bookmark your site too (the new one obviously, lol), as I still need some advices abt english as a foreign language!
Yeah then at the end, I think I'll just try to find a nice new layout for this blog...and open another blog on Wordpress about a different matter (I already have something in mind).
There's so much pro and cons for both of the platforms that changing would maybe be a waste of time, as, whatever I chose I'll always miss something. On another hand, opening a new blog on wordpress would give me the ability to determine what(whose advantages) I miss the most (advantages from WP or Blogger)
....maybe some skilled devellopper should think about an hybrid of both, lol
Thank you again for your time and precious input. In fact it helped me to take my decision :o)-
