    who is he anyway ?
  3. AmyWeber
    He is a Genius, sometimes.
  4. drjay1966
    Mostly idiot.
  5. drjay1966
Thought the Hanukah song was great...
    1. drjay1966
Yes, I know I misspelled "Hanukkah" right after calling somebody else an idiot...

He is one of those actors one can feel comfortable toward. He is silly, but genuinely soft-hearted. There is that certain something he pulls you in with, that is hard to put your finger on. He seems very likable and has talent. A genius who portrays a character ... who sometimes does idiotic things.

I don't like Adam Sandler jokes. You know the kind: They go on and on for several minutes; and you're not sure where the punchline was, but you're sure there was a punchline.
  8. timethief
He bores me. I don't find him funny at all.
    1. Theresa111
I began to really see him, in the movie "Spanglish," which was a very good story and showed him in a serious light. If you haven't seen it, you might like it as well.

he peaked at SNL. but was great in "punch drunk love"
    1. timethief
      What's SNL?
    2. voodooKobra
      Saturday Night Live

      OPERA MAN!!! lol

50 first dates, one of my favorite movies & Click, the first time i have seen him
in a movie with a genuine moral.
    1. Dukepro25
He can be serious when he wants.

Sometimes he can be an idiot, but he has some genius in him.

My kids like his Night at the Museum and something about mary was a classic
    1. legbamel
I am assuming that you were being tongue-in-cheek there, as Adam Sandler was in neither of those movies. But speaking of people that are idiotic geniuses (or at least people who must be doing something right)...
    2. crkian
your right its that other bloke I get them mixed up
    3. urikalish
That's not Adam Sandler, that's Ben Stiller. BTW, they're both Jewish.
    4. crkian
I always get them mixed up the kids could of told me who was who if I asked them

Interestingly, I think he's great when playing serious roles, i.e., Reign Over Me, and Spanglish.

When he's trying to be funny, I generally think he's an idiot. 50 First Dates would be the exception.
  13. aningeniousname
Never laughed at anything I have seen of his and now avoid his films like the plague
  14. Arashmania
"punch-drunk love" .... a brilliant movie and funny as hell ...but one of those movies that are only funny in retrospect, yet certain scenes stick with you! based on that film alone i would have to say genius.
  15. Dukepro25
Anger Management was hilarious too. lol
  16. Anok
I like Adam Sandler. he's got a little bit of everything. He can act, he can sing, he can write funny material....
    1. aningeniousname
Go wash your mouth out with soap young lady!
    2. MadameX
What I don't like about him is the unnecessary vulgarity. He can act and he's funny, and I just don't see what's added by throwing a little walrus vomit into the middle of it.
    3. Anok
See, now Tiffany, just the mention of walrus vomit made me laugh.

      A lot.
    4. aningeniousname
To me he is like a 5 year old showing off, there is no wit to his comedy.
    5. Anok
But he does Willy the toll booth man.

That has to count for something!
    6. aningeniousname
You need to see a real comedy film, I'm gonna send you a link.
  17. Sylvia
A genius who portrays himself as an idiot and makes millions in the process.

That is a genius, whether you like his movies or not.

I Love him, He is funny.
  18. howisbradley
Genius on SNL and humorless since then. I guess that makes him currently an idiot.
    1. RTBjr73
Agreed...to this day I still do not understand why he dod not win a Grammy for "Lunch Ladyland".
  19. gingerbeer25
I really liked him until his latest movie..I couldn't get pass the first few minutes with its blatant sexualization of women. I have also heard that the rest of the movie is apparently anti-Arab.
  20. Sylvia
    Here's a question:

If he is an idiot, what does that say about ALL the people who go see his films and enjoy them?

Are we a society full of idiots?

Does that make me an idiot...I guess so...

    1. MadameX
Sylvia, I haven't seen any evidence that YOU'RE an idiot, but as to your broader question, I think it's quite clear that we ARE precisely that.
    2. Sylvia
      lol ... I knew it
    3. drjay1966
I'm with Madame X on this.
  21. gingerbeer25
    At least he's cute
  22. aningeniousname
I don't think anyone has said he was an idiot have they? Obviously you have to be quite astute to do what he has done, but if it is work that will stand up in 50 years time I'm not so sure.
    1. legbamel
He definitely has some talent, but he too often goes for the gross-out instead of trying for something more subtle. Mr. Deeds is an excellent example of that (hubby has made me watch it twice). It could be a very nice movie, if it weren't for the doofy black foot thing. The scene with the butler made me ill.
  23. gingerbeer25
sorry I like the dark hair and the smile that is full of trouble
  24. thinkmaothink
Genius who acts like an idiot.
... but there's tons of idiots who tries to act all clever.

I don't like it how people refers to him as the 'Sandman'
  25. jsinkeywest
I'd say Genius when you have a few hundred million in the bank even if you are an idiot your a Genius;)
  26. kaguvkov
    A Gendiot!
  27. craftymug
He's no genius or idiot but a very good actor. I especially liked him in Big Daddy.
    1. Dukepro25
      How could I forget?

      Good show!

Happy Gilmore is a classic too.
  28. LazyThirdEye
Boy is there ever a fine line on this one...
  29. acousticguitarist
If he hadn't been in 50 First Dates I'd be saying "imbecile", but a successful one
  30. rowen
    better than most comedians...
  31. drjay1966
What's the line from Spinal Tap?
"There's a fine line between clever and stupid."
  32. kevinatserieatalk
