Hey Everyone,

We are glad to announce that we have just added SezWho comments to our Activity Streams.

SezWho is a universal profile and comment reputation raking service. You don't need a SezWho account to add your blog comments to your BlogCatalog Activity Stream, simply enter your e-mail address and SezWho will find any comments you have made on SezWho enabled blogs such as The BlogCatalog Blog.

You can add SezWho to your profile at:
www.blogcatalog.com/account/communities

If you would like to see the new service in action you can check out the SezWho profile here on BC:

    Pretty sweet.

    Daniel, Does this mean that every time one makes any comment, it is forever recorded? Can any one see these comments? Why do you feel it is a good thing to do? Thank you for answering these queries.

      Are you taking a nap? YoouuuHooo, Daniel? Are you there?

      Anytime you make a comment on a Blog with SezWho installed we can grab a snippet of that comment and display in on your BC feed. Of course, this is only if you opt-in by going to your communities and adding sezwho.

    What does that mean?

      That means that if a blog has a sezwho plugin and you left a comment, the sezwho people keep track of it automatically.

      Then, later if you give us your sezwho information we can ping them and pull back any comments you have made on blogs who have their comment system installed.

    As much as I like anything that's new, I'm a little lost as to how this improves my online experience.

    I added my SezWho activity stream and clicked on the icon under 'your accounts" to see the comments. I like that it does NOT include any comments I made for my own blog (whereas, if you click 'who is' on the actual blog it would show everything.) I may be doing something wrong but when I click on a link in the sezwho, a new window opens but it's blank with just a 'claim your profile' message. I expected to go to the blog post!

      Thanks for bringing this to our attention i have forwarded this bug onto SezWho and hopefully they will get it fixed soon.

      @BPWebNews

      You are right, the click thru should take you to the blog and should not show a blank page. I think it is a bug -- I'm analyzing more and shall update you.

      Just an update. We found the bug. Fixing it as we speak. Shall test it and push it live today.

      @BPWebNews

      The problem has been fixed. The issue was with the treatment of relative vs. absolute URLs which screwed up one of the page handler. Thanks for pointing it out.

      Regards,
      Indus

    You're welcome! It works now. Very useful if the site doesn't have a comment feed, you can go back to see more recent comments or response to your comment.

    in my experience it sucks balls. but that's just my humble opinion.
    1. thegoodknife
      would you care to elaborate?

    That is really way too big brother-ish for me. So does this means even if I do not participate in this annoying little piece of tracking my having a plug-in of my own my comments will be tracked?
    1. BPWebNews
      The real 'big brother' in that sense is Google --- all of your comments are indexed along with the post you comment on. You can try a search of your signature name and you should get some. I find it helpful when a post does not have a 'subscribe' to comments and I want to read the blog owner's response a few days later -- I can see it in my sezwho log. I don't care too much about the 'authority' ratings and the post ratings can easily be skewed, but comments do show a side of the blogger's personality & level of interaction --- are they adding friends and never interacting?. You may also find a blog they commented on which you may be interested in [they already commented on the same post you did, so there could be common interest]. Haven't there been times when you wanted to recollect that 'brilliant' comment you made 5 months ago! (LOL)

    One can use cocomment and have a complete archive of all their comments. www.cocomment.com/ They can make that archive available to others or not. I used to use cocomment but I got to the point where I did not desire or require and archive of my comments. I don't cotton to adding another widget running any script to my site and I don't cotton to the Big Brother feel of one that rates comments at all.
