Adobe CS3 garbage

After using Adobe products for about 12 years, teaching their products for 7 or 8 years, I've come to the conclusion that the upgrade to CS3 is a disaster.
The purchasing of Macromedia has now also meant the problems with Adobe software has now also affected the former Macromedia products.
Installing CS3 master collection for numerous people that I have met has been a nightmare.
As a person that has to use their products everyday in my place of employment I find it frustrating and I'm astounded that a company like Adobe can't create a series of software apps and have them designed in a way that the installion (and uninstallion of bad installation resulting from their incompetent development team) installs efficiently onto a standard PC.
Have other people had trouble with the CS3 Master Collection ( I think it's about 18GB) or is it just a coincidence that a lot of people I know are having problems. Yes our software is legal.

i heard before scraping the $$ together that CS3 was a disaster. then again, CS1 had a fair amount of issues as well. i'm of the opinion that *obviously* the odd number CS releases are doomed much like the even numbered star trek movies. (i think it was the even numbered ones which were wretched ... bah, i hate star trek anyway)
they've had TONS of problems with CS 3 ... legit copies suddenly decided they were not legit. stability issues and crashes. save problems. features deciding to not work. the list goes sadly on and on.
i'm on an "every other" upgrade schedule and really hoping that CS4 improves 3 like 2 did 1.
heh - that was a really annoying sentence, but i liked it.-
Thanks. I'm glad it's not just over here.
We've got it on a couple of hundred computers. The original instalatlion for the image took about 7 hours, I have hesitated until today to install at home, but I needed to test Premiere CS3 with a JVC camera, it took hours of trying to install one simple program and then hours to try and uninstall, and I've got a stuffed installion that won't uninstall now.
Because I teach the stuff it neds to run, i've made a decision to virtually give up on Flash now too. None of my old code works because they've rebuilt it and you now have to write a function to even use a simple button. This is madness, I had the coolest scripts, one liners that all worked. The only cool thing I think left in flash now is what I realiused last night is I can bring in a 130MB video file and export it as a swf at about 2MB, now that IS cool.
I can't undestand why these guys make it so hard for everyone, software that doesn't install, software that crashes, glitches, and they charge outrageous prices for it. And their cheap video software supports JVC video cam files but their full decent versions doesn't.
I don't know how other people get on, I can actually write software.
My head hurts. -
yeah, i ran into a LOT of scripting problems with flash, too. very, very frustrating. but i'm also still on mx2004 for flash - which i'm not very happy with either.
the being unable to install correctly AND uninstall to start over ... that's actually a known issue for nearly a year now. depressing, isn't it? when 3 first came out, i did a bunch of web searches for info on how people were liking it. was pretty obvious they weren't.
i really hope they get their shit together for 4 ... and that they offer better packages, as well. i know to get all the programs i need, i would have had to buy the master collection - which includes several pricey programs i don't need (wouldn't mind having them, but when we're talking about a couple thousand bucks total, i do not *need* them)

acousticguitarist;
I have been using Photoshop Dreamweaver and Flash CS3 I have not had any major problems with the software. But like you I believe the older versions were more stable.
I only upgraded because when I work with some designers they would send me things I could not open. I keep a copy of all of my old versions just in case of some drama.( I should mention that I am running the software on a G5 Mac with close to 2gigs of memory) If you are on a Pc and have Vista I heard it will give you a headache. (the software was a birthday gift from a fellow web-designer not sure how it was acquired LOL) -
Of course this is the suite I am learning everything on and the reason why I bought a mac... yeah for poor timing
