I think we all know that Google Adsense is not as profitable as it once was. I think we can all see some the reasons why that is:
(1) The hype vs reality
We’ve all heard the hype about making millions with our blogs but the fact remains that very few bloggers have the degree of expertise required to produce high quality unique content that brings in the massive number of hits on advertisements that are required to make a living from blogging.
The make money blogging niche is the largest niche of all. The competition for readers is fierce and most traffic flows to the A and B list make money bloggers. Other bloggers within the niche tend to re-blog the content produced by the front runners, rather than creating unique content, and that has a negative effect on the niche as a whole, as readers have become savvy to this.
(2) The effect of splogs
On free hosted subdomains like blogspot those bloggers who actually do have expertise, a command of written English, and who can produce high quality posts often find themselves drowning in a sea of slogs full of stolen, plagiarized content and/or canned content so it's very difficult for them to attract both organic traffic and the kind of visitors, who will click on ads.
(3) The effect of click fraud
Click fraud (bloggers clicking each other's Google Adsense ads) has become rampant. This is well known and some advertisers are reluctant to continue advertising with Google Adsense on free hosted blogs.
(4) Economic hard times
In these days of economic distress it’s even more important to absorb that fact and the fact that easy credit is no more. We can expect that some businesses will cut back on their advertising budgets and campaigns, and we can expect that click on ads may decrease.
(5) Get better or get out
The truth is that there are no shortcuts to making money from blogging. You need to have a knowledge base and skill sets that make it possible for you to “deliver the goods”. This means that if you truly want to make an income from blogging that you will have to learn basic SEO, and how to write well. You also need to purchase your own domain and web hosting for it as blogs on free-hosted sub-domains lack credibility. Lastly, you will need to consider other income streams for your blog.

raphnexx - I had a look at your blog.
For those who want to monetize their blog, a single topic must really be chosen. I notice that your blog is about many different things, which is fine - but if you want to make money (more than a few dollars) blogging, you really must find one or two specific topics to write about.
The majority of your posts are about properties available for sale. That's fine if your blog is intended to increase awareness about your business, but if you want your blog to earn its own profit, perhaps write about more general topics that will establish you as an authority, such as "how to choose the right property", "how to get financing for your home purchase", "understanding mortgages", etc...
People looking at home listings are unlikely to click on ads. Understand your demographics. People are more likely to visit your blog if it also has a high visual content...in other words, you need more photos. If you are trying to sell houses - put pictures of the houses in your blog entries. Words alone do not sell houses, or anything really.
The Google ads on your site are located at the very bottom of the page - not the best place to put them if you want to monetize your blog. They are also not very good ad sizes - just small text ad squares that can only hold one ad each. Do a search and find out which ad sizes are the most successful, and try putting those in a more visible place on your blog. -
I don't know how much you are looking for.
Oh $ 250 a month is quite enough to pay for my hosting, Electric bill, Phone bills, Internet bill, Pizza Bill and beers. -
I'm not an expert, nor am I rich, but I think there are a few simple things to consider when advertising on your blog. The first and most important is: looking at your own site, do you, personally, have any desire to click on your own ads? If you don't, then why would anyone else? I'm not saying it's impossible, but one thing that always bothered me about many of the adsense ads I've seen is that they're just not appealing. Many of the advertisers seem to rely on visitors being complete idiots--I see an ad right now as I'm typing this that reads, "Make Money in 15 Minutes". My experience tells me that intelligent people (the kind that are reading our blogs) are not going to click on that.
I experimented with adsense on my blog to see if I could use adsense's context-sensitivity to produce a higher ratio of decent ads to stupid ads. It turns out that I've wanted to click on quite a few of them. You just have to be aware of what you're writing about in each post, because each one will influence the ads on your page. That's why having a themed blog is best. That way, you'll attract readers who are into your blog's main topics, and you'll also have a better chance of getting ads that appeal to that audience.
Look at your blog as if you were a visitor that had never been there before, and evaluate it like that. Ralph, when I went to your blog, all of your google ads were stacked in an unappealing fashion at the very bottom of your page. You also have a huge amount of text in your banner, which is far too much for most people to take in. Try to simplify it and keep people's limited span of attention in mind. Also, give a thought to image only ads. I personally filter out most google text ads just by habit on whatever site I'm on. I think a good image is way more appealing. I saw one on my blog today advertising Google Chrome and I wanted to click on it.
Make sure that YOU want to click on at least some of them!-

I don't want to click on any ads at all. Therefore like 45.5% of those surfing the net today I use a Firefox browser with Adblock Plus. I don't even see ads and all pop-ups are blocked. The growth in the number of people on the net using Firefox with AdBlock Plus is something I forgot to mention in my first post above.

You aren't going to make money if you can't write, so I don't think people should blog for cash , the cash seriously just isn't there.
-
Oh yeah--and that too.
Content, content, content... well, depending on what you write you can rake in some serious cash. Before Helium users wore out their welcome on Reddit, one of the authors made over $2,000 in one day from the traffic just one of his articles received. He did have a really interesting article, though. Anyway, Helium isn't adsense, but you still have a chance of making some money with PPC if you've got high traffic+decent ads.
I agree that you shouldn't start out just blogging for cash. I think if you're providing content that a large audience loves to read, after that, you may as well slap some in ads in there.

Timethief, that AdBlock deal is interesting! I have horrible traffic with my baby blog and already got a bean burrito's worth of clicks (Taco Bell). As new as I am to freelance writing and using adsense (I've had it for four days now I think) I find that very exciting. Of course, just ONE click would have been exciting to me.
-
you can make money in the end but depends what you are looking for first. It is obvious that traffic is needed. I do not know how much money the people with money-named blogs could earn, but most of my friend who were blogging for a while got page ranked with google (3-4) just using a kind of personal blogs, wrinting interesting articles about the events which take place in the around community. I am curious but do not think is working so well getting in contact with people too far away on the other side of the world. There is not much in common, so my advise is just look around and people will become interested.
-
In my opinion is the first major increase your number of visitors. if the number of visitors you many possibilities that the number of automatic click ads also greater than if the blog makes very good but it means less number of visitors who click the ad was minimal. so look for ways to sum the number of visitors is high. "According to the saying many roads rome".

Blogs do make money I posted some of my past earnings it's not millions but it pays the rent and car payments www.wordpress-installer.com/do-blogs-make-money.php I left out my adsence because there funny about posting earnings but they stay around 400 to 500 a month
-
Ok let me just make it clear that I am not an adsense blogger, I use adsense but my earnings aren't worth shouting about, pay my bills every month and thats it. However I do know of blogs that earn thousands in adsense revenue and the way they do this is by optimising their sites for high traffic relevant keywords. Search traffic is more likely to convert into clicks compared with social traffic.
What you have to remember is that your site does not get high up in the Google rankings overnight, making money with adsense is going to take at least 12 months of hard work, optimising, building links writing content and research.
But if I was to answer the question "is it possible to make money with adsense?" the answer is most definitely YES -
apologize in advance if this language makes you feel strange to read, because I use google translater in the language of Thai. language is English.
Experience in a similar way of adsense 3 months that I always try to learn from the study that I do not know of anything to say about adsense I use to apply more than 10 times to be co-published over adsense, will it pass. 2 months to 10 times to apply and participate in the 3 months I tried to do with adsense blogger, but as always I would not have made any success Wash 1 week to visit someone's adsense. Thai language and then tell that trying to create a backlink to the post by a variety of fake it, but if I do this method. From a person visits. I am a target of a new blog that I will or not. Technician, but it is if I have the information to my friends in this world and people in this world like I have my blog will be more than happy to have money from adsense or amazon and hope my blog will make friends. of me in this world are happy to see the attractions of the country's development and I include in my research for information that I am an inexperienced Internet world, with more and thank you very timethief นะ. ครับ information for adsense blogger like me, that information is in English with an amateur like me cause I feel it exceedingly difficult to do if I have enough time from work I do is for Engineering I make. will try to understand and follow and hope that when you see the English language then I will be better than this and talk with you all understand and know more of the webmaster. -
Adsense is not as popular as it was which has been stated many times here. It should not discourage newbies from making money online, it will come if you put time and effort into it.
Every time someone says "They are lucky to make money...."
The meaning of lucky is hard work, learning and never giving up.
Keep trying and you will succeed as long as you believe.
Good luck to everyone. -
