Hi guys
I am taking son #1 to Liverpool this weekend to see the last game of the season. This requires me to travel there by ferry for 8 hours, spend 2 nights there, then fly home. I doubt that I can survive that long without my laptop, blog, and you lot (aw...) How does wireless internet connection work? And how to I set that up?
Before you answer, I AM A TECHNOPHOBE. So no big words and nothing too complicated. Else I will have some kind of breakdown.
Please help

Hi, having a wireless connection is easier than you think
You first need a wireless adapter, this is like a small card that goes in your laptop - What kind of laptop do you have? I'll recommend a specific adapter, or maybe it comes with one in it.
Next you will need some kind of access in Liverpool, you can't use the same access from USA (Unless you have a dope verizon plan). You must find their equivalent of our cablevision\verizon and set up an account with them. There will be a monthly charge
Dont Dont Dont surf the internet on your phone while you are there, depending on your plan you can be charged an arm and a leg - this is how people rack up $10,000 bills
Know what WiFi is?-
my laptop is Asus X70L series widescreen notebook (I just accidentally turned everything off trying to identify that information...)
It says on a sticker lots of stuff, including "Wireless 802.11b/g"
I'm in Northern Ireland, so already the UK. Shouldn't be a problem re extra charges etc.
If my laptop has a card/adapter thingy, where would that be exactly?
And I have heard of WiFi but have no idea what it is. I didn't know what a widget was until about 3 weeks ago...
Those are the best answers I have to your questions Sir/Maam. And I'm sweating now... -
OK awsome, so you already have a wireless adapter, you can forget about that.
Now you need WiFi access - some hotels actually offer this.. lots of coffeeshops do, you are ready to go if you walk into a WiFi enabled area.
I would call the hotel you would be staying at and ask them if they have WiFi access. I bet they will.
