Some of you may have been given notice by email that Nigeria or China or tenbucktoo owes you 13 million dollars and all you half to do is pay for couirer fees and so forth to collect the money.

Has anyone been paid? I know every one wants to jump on the subject and say fraud but I do have some recollection of some events that take me back to these countries and there is a hair of truth to them.

My cousin is a total wiseguy. A primo social engineer when he wants to be. A Nigerian tried to scam him and he ended up convincing the scammer to send HIM $75. Gotta love it!

According to my daily e-mails, Africa is full of orphaned billionaires, the UK holds a worldwide lottery drawing every day, and I would be much happier if I "enhanced" something I've never had in the first place.

I strongly suspect that you won't find anyone who actually received money from those peculiarly promising come-ons.

calais50 on the other hand, is the first I've heard who turned the scam around.

actually, there's a group that scams the scammers and has gotten some bucks from them - including a dude who insisted he was a church and before he could send the scammers any money, they had to join his church.

That's why it's called a scam nobody gets to be paid but some will get suckered!

Yeah, there is a hair of truth. You send them all your personal info and for free you get your bank account wiped out. So, someone is profiting just not the person the mail was sent out to.

    I was paid....

And I will be happy to assist you in getting your fair share of the money. All I need is your bank account access numbers so that I can instruct my bank in Switzerland.

      Ouch. Good one.

Yeah - I don't right 4 blog posts a day and not develop a quick wit Norski.

It was like shooting fish in the barrel on this one.

(Which - btw - seems like an insane activity. If you have the fish in the barrel - why shoot them? You've already got them!)

I was paid. How do you think I can afford to sit at my computer all day?

New, developing hobby: People who try to scam the scammers. Dangerous. Some of the African scammers have been known to put out Hit Man "contracts" on folks who irritate them too much. Best to ignore, ignore, ignore. NEVER get involved--in any way--with these people.

I would stay away from anything that has to do with " Dear Sir" from a Nigerian email.
