      Yeah, I've read an article on this on Yahoo as well.
      If this 'cure' is actually going to work again and not only once, it might change everything for people with AIDS and prevention of HIV.

   Well if this is so, I hope they get to it and quick!!! 50% of all babies born in Kwazulu Natal in South Africa (and higher rates elseewhere in Africa!) are born HIV positive... basic education like not giving birth naturally etc. is not given so many of these women and would help so much. There is UCH work being done in South Africa for HIV AIDS but it just never seems enough...

   So true. I remember watching a few movies, particularly from the Discovery, about how the disease is affecting the rural regions of some parts in Africa. This definitely would help so much, and hopefully this 'cure' doesn't cost so much to help people with the disease.. or if it does, we find some way to manipulate it into becoming a lesser price.

   Unfortunately bone marrow transplant is generally out of reach for the poor Africans, especially as you need a donor who has an HIV-resistant genes. (European, usually, as Europeans who survived Plague carried this gene, which is also resistant to plague.) Currently, some African countries treat aids by "virgin rapes" as it is believed that having sex with a virgin cures aids... So having these people turn to bone marrow transplant rather than seeking out a 2-year old... They probably cannot even afford a standard AIDS treatment, let alone a bone marrow one, which is not a cheap trick.

   Totally true. Hopefully we can find some other alternative, but as far as right now, at least we're a huge step closer to achieving it.
