If my condo sells - and maybe even if it doesn't - we will be doing a road trip from Alaska to Maine SOON.

We'll be hitting up Kelso, Washington - and going down across the more Southern Areas (Think Portland OR and across the US.)

Anyone have any good routes - or places or points of interest that we should consider?

I'm terribly excited as the prospect is high (not 100% - so I'm not jumping up and down yet - or counting my eggs in my basket...)

Anyhow - I'm looking for good hints - places to stay away from - cool places to heck out on the way...

ALSO - key points I would like to know - the GENERAL Weather across the ways...

And I LOVE roller Coasters - but dunno if any places are still open this time of year...

Were hoping to be near/at Bangor Maine before November 1st, as we need to get wood stored, the house winterized, etc. Before the First main freeze.

OK - tell me all your ideas and thoughts!

To See the path we think we are taking - Go to Google - click on MAPS - then click on GET DIRECTIONS - then type in Kelso, WA to Lincoln, ME - We probably will take the Southern Route - due to weather...

We will however - be going From HOMER, AK to Kelso WA - so any Canadians on that side - let me know!

      OOOH Scaaaary...

      I'll bring my camera...

And then bite my nails debating whether it's a total sin to publish them or not. LMAO!

I was there one time 6 or 7 yrs ago, and I saw ladies wearing low-rise jeans as high-waters

Maine - Acadia National Park. Hike Cadillac Mountain (or drive it, but hiking's more fun). Visit Thundering Hole and you must visit Jordan Pond House and enjoy some popovers and tea. Bar Harbor, Maine is an adorable town, much to do and see.

OOH - you're the second person who has told me about Bar Harbor.

      Jordan House - eh?

Sounds interesting. *writes that down as a must do*

if you are taing I-84 east, i recommend taking a brief detour on the old highway at Rowena (west of The Dalles)

The fall follage is particularly spectacular this time of year

Going through the dalles and the Columbia gorge is a nice drive. I would go up and around the olypmic peninsula then down coast to Astoria and follow the river east for a ways.
