   consider yourself as an advertiser, and then think from where will you start, what will be your strategy and finally where will you advertise.
   
   Although there are many things to explain in this, but i'll only discuss those which are related to the query...
   
   first of all niche is very important, like you should not advertise about basket balls in literature or poetry blogs
   secondly you cannot simply search on google for basketballs/sports and try to advertise on all top results...you may start with this step, but you have to consider many different things too.
   
   For advertisers who want to sell their templates, domains, "make money online" books, ebay secrets etc. they are actually looking for blogs which attracts blogger/webmasters, who are most likely to have an alexa toolbar installed, so now alexa rank is NOT unimportant.
