I know a good car when I see one but I just never in my life got into the obsession most guys have with cars. Some of them happen to know every detail about every single car out there. They can talk about it for hours and it's like some of them would get turned on if a "sexy" car passes by.

To me cars are just vehicles to get me from one place to another. If they happen to look good, then great. But I can never talk about a car for over 2 minutes before getting bored.

Are any guys out there like me? To the ladies: does your man obsess about cars? Does it bother you?

Nope, you're not the only one.

If a car looks good, I'll think "Oh, that car looks good", but don't ask me about the make & model, or anything else about it. I'll just say "Oh, it has four wheels and, uh ... a steering wheel, yeah".

LOL my uncle was driving an old car once and the steering wheel disconnected from its place and he was holding it his hand while the car was moving.
    2. Friday13
Mwahahaha! That must've been a fun moment (not for your uncle, if he was going downhill or something).

I'm nil in cars. Give me GREEN and I'll drive whatever it may be

I dont like guys that obsess over cars. Any stupid obsessions except cars, guys who are into cars come off as arrogant and materialistic to me and those are traits that I can't deal with.
    1. Arnous81
You have a good taste in guys.No wonder you like me...
    2. sensico
well...that was pretty arrogant of you
    3. Timmim
I love cars but I wouldn't say I'm arrogant or materialistic. Maybe I should change that to I love fast cars.
  4. Sureng
how many cars you have had?
  5. harveyavatar
I don't care much at all about cars. Having lived in big cities for the past 20 years, I haven“t needed one either.
  6. faithsju243
I heart car guys you know why, because when my piece of sh..I mean when my lovely Jetta has a malfunction they can fix it.

At the end of the day car guys are really no different than sport freak guys you're just competing with a different object.
    1. Arnous81
Sportss freak guys are the same> i dont belong in that category either..
    2. faithsju243
@Arnous, well tell me what inanimate object you gush like a teenage girl over and insert that in place of sports freak or car man...unless you're sexy musician guy or ultra cool deep poetry guy....
    3. Arnous81
Honestly, nothing. Not cars, not sports, not cell phones, not ipods, and not video games.

I might have an obsession over books though.I can spend 2 hours in a bookstore to decide what I exactly I wanna get.

I had to turn in my "Man Card" years ago when I could not join in a discussion about or even care about the latest HEMI.
  9. Financialnut
I don't really care too much. I would rather have a nice home.

My boyfriend obsesses about cars to the point where he can bring up any detail of any model of nearly any make. And he tries to quiz me on cars. I can't remember the difference between a Packard and a Porche. I tag along when he goes to his car shows. But my automotive vacuity frustrates him, poor guy. I think the fact bothers him more than his obsession bothers me.

Nope, I don't care for cars (All they do is getcha from point a to point nowhere) or sports (Seen one game of football, seen em all. Just another cheap reason to drink beer and wear a shirt with your favorite team on it that you'll argue over and lose friends because of. The backwards hat and sandals with socks thing is really getting on my nerves too, every sports junkie has one of each.)

Normally I have to read the insignia on the backs of cars to tell what they are. I never even paid attention to whether the engine in my car in inline or a V and I've owned it for 6 years now.
    1. riverstyxxx
Who can forget those wonderful indecipherable personalized license plates, right? Aren't they like, the coolest way to establish your own unique individual sense of worth?
    2. Friday13
      They're not all indecipherable.

    3. riverstyxxx
And this, although it wasn't personalized. And yeah, it's 100% real:

ROFL, thats what she gets for trying to be cool

One of my old retarded roommates I used to live with...His mother or something came by one day in her truck, I can't remember what the damn thing said I think it was something along the lines of CALOSER.

I've never really been into cars either. I mean I can look at a car and think it looks nice but I don't really put any thought into it. When it really comes down to it I see a car as a tool to get me where I need to go. A couple of my friends are really into cars and I just kind of zone out when they start with the car talk. I have other obsessions to make up for it though...

Is the SUV fad over yet, or what? We discussed that in school a while back, actually. It was to the point where everyone had to own one just to look good. It could be a rich yuppie putting around in a hummer or a divorced mother who didn't even have a need to own one. A lot of mexicans here have them too, along with those stupid rims..And don't even get me started on the "My car is worth 400 dollars but my rims are worth 2000" thing.
Anyway, problem with fads that is when everyone owns one, it looks less cool all the time. This is how they eventually die down, it was just following the same old rules.

BTW: There was a scandal on digg a few days ago about Chrysler. The owner had the nerve to thank america with a sappy letter for getting the bailout money and posted it on their homepage blog. Within a day, there were like, thousands of complaints and hatemail, so chrysler took the blog down..But google cached everything and that's how it made it's way onto digg. Bad PR stunt, but I didn't even know Chrysler had a blog.

Nope...as long as the thing gets me where I'm going, I'm good.

Not at all I love to drive and the freedom it brings.
    1. riverstyxxx
It's not freedom if you're paying insurance, gas, maintenance, time wasted in traffic, car payments every month, and following traffic laws. That's the illusion the car companies spend money on advertising to make you believe you have "freedom"

Usually the men who can afford to buy those expensive cars are old enough to be my Grandfather.
I am not a fan and I usually walk everywhere or use the subway anyways.
  18. Arnous81
Glad to see Im not alone.Im not into watching sports either.I'd rather play them, or do something else that's more useful with my time. The only thing Id still watch would be the NBA dunk contests. Those are cool and they only happen once a year.
  19. PinoyXfat
    You're not alone.
I'm not into cars and it's probably a good thing because I can't afford them. But where I live a car is a real necessity to move around so I'm learning to drive. First lesson was this morning.
  20. roentarre
I am the same. Great to know someone like me
  21. nahummer
I hate cars. In fact I despise them and am soooooo happy to not have to rely on one anymore now that I'm living in Europe instead of North America. The God Car culture still exists over here, but at least you can get around without one.

I don't even drive, but I do have an old Raleigh Chopper rusting in the basement haha
  23. letters2soulmate
am i the only one who gets turned on by cars? does anyone else think the new audi's headlights are hot? love love love cars.
    1. sensico
the only thing about a car that is a turn on is the possibility of sex in a car
