I personally think Amanda and her boyfriend probably thought at first that M was having consensual sex - and when they realized too late (because they were too high to really understand reality) - they probably looked in the room - FREAKED OUT - and ran to his apartment where they talked and freaked out some more - trying to figure out what to say or do about it.

They probably feel incredibly guilty - and really can't cognitively spell out what happened.

The Italian investigators are not known for being kind.

    Do I think she's guilty?

    Dunno - I wasn't there.

But it seems to me - that they probably had NO REASON to kill this other girl - no motive.

      Hmmmm....

From what I've heard, it sounds like she's been railroaded--but I haven't really studied the case.
  4. Stillthinking
I don't think she did it.

I want her to be innocent... but her story isn't very convincing...
    2. melindaville
Actually, I disagree. From what I have read, she sounds convincing to me.

My father is in prison for life and I can tell you, police can be extremely unethical in their interrogation techniques. I think she was a scared kid who panicked and started telling them whatever they wanted to hear.

I doubt that a kid with no history of violence, sexual depravity, or serious drug use would do something like this.

I think they have a strong suspect in Rudy Hermann Guede. He is the only one that physical evidence points to. I think that Amanda and her boyfriend are getting railroaded.

@Still--from what I have read, I think the same as you.

@ StillThinking: So sorry about your father.

Still - I'm serious - you're not even FIBBING about what PDs will do.

One example of false confession from unethical interrogation methods that comes to mind is the murder of Jeanine Nicarico here in the suburbs of Chicago.

@ Stillthinking: this is one of the reasons I am against the death penalty.
    9. Stillthinking
Agreed. I am also very anti-death penalty for a multitude of reasons.

I'm quite close to this case. Knox's parents have been very manipulative of the American media.
    1. melindaville
hmmnnnn, interesting. Although I am not surprised that the media presents it in very different ways.

The view is always different -- depending on where you stand!

What is your connection to this case?

What I read was off MSNBC and Time.

I tend to be suspicious of cases like this that have strong evidence (DNA and fingerprints) pointing one way and prosecutions pointing another.
    3. Epicharis
I'm close friends with the victim's best friend. I obviously don't know what happened, and neither does anyone who wasn't there, but I do know that Knox's parents have launched a very big PR campaign. I've been reading every single story and the news reporting in America is very very different from that in the UK and the rest of Europe.

@ Epicharis: "the news reporting in America is very very different from that in the UK and the rest of Europe." -- you're right.
