A third of all amphibians are close to extinction. Why are they diminishing? As is the case with most things, the reasons are complex. The most likely causes are those already familiar to us; climate change, habitat destruction, the unnatural introduction of invasive species, environmental contamination and overexploitation. In addition to these largely human activities, a disease known as 'chytridiomycosis' has infected a wide range of amphibians globally and is capable of driving species to extinction.

      tis ain't it? the worst part I think is how vital they are to us as a species yet very few people know/care about them, it's like bees! bees seem useless but without them our agriculture would fail epically.
