I often wonder which I like better - animals or people? I also wonder if this makes me just a tad bit antisocial.
What do you think? If you sometimes (or even most of the time) like animals better than people, why? Thanks so much for your thoughts and opinions!

Definitely animals, although I do agree they might cuss you out if they could. I know one of my cats would, for not letting her go out on the deck, for kicking her off of my laptop, for yelling at her when she gets on the kitchen counters... for typing too loudly right now while she is giving me "the look"...

People annoy me to no end. I will take animals any day of the week.

I uploaded in my Japanese blog about related topic. All exsistances in this Universe are connected and the essence is the same, but to make changes it had started to devide like bunches of tree.We man-kind has the tendency to feel great about exsistances which are similar(closer in the history) to us,it because of our basic love for our ownselves, which is for the straggle of exsistance. But I think when your soul gets closer to the essence, you can feel love for every kind of things. We are all same and different,anyway....
But I say the animals are closer to the essence,so more likely they are more beautiful to me. -
I would say animals, only this neighbor cat likes to roll over, unveil her very furry belly for me to scratch and then...
BITE my hand.
Yet I STILL fall for it.
I'm a moron.-
The cat is playing. Unless he draws blood, then you have a problem.
Anyway, I've had cats do that to me many times. It's kinda like what they do with balls of yarn, only with your hand.
If you want the cat to let go, let your arm go limp. Chances are good the cat with let go and may even express concern. (Subtle though that expression may be.)

I've noticed this trend. Americans have become obsessed with pets. Yeah I know with the consolidation of the food and supply industries, came huge marketing campaigns but the American consumer took to it in an especially big way. Might have something to do with the average American feeling a little more isolated somehow and pet ownership does mimic social interaction. Of course it's a one-sided social interaction as the pet is not capable of interaction on a human level.
So the human owner can read what he wants out of it. It's kind of sad how many people believe their dog has emotions. thoughts and feelings that are distinctly human. Sorry folks, your pet's brain isn't wired for sympathy, empathy, longing, joy or love. I'm not a religious person but I do know that Human Beings are indeed special. And the argument that animals are not violent or malicious is ridiculous. When humans behave in a way that is appalling, we are appalled usually cause that person has not acted with human intellect and emotion but on baser instinct, in other words more like an animal.
When a wolfe kills another member of the pack, what's it doing? When a lion takes out little lion cubs, what is that? It's all part of nature and anyone who has really observed nature and animals can tell you one thing for sure about nature, It's Damn Brutal.
I'm not saying I hate animals. I have no feelings about them. I can't hate a dog for just being a dog. I actually find some animals amusing to look at, watch lots of nature programming etc. The premise of this thread is ridiculous though. C'mon humans or animals. I would assume it's a joke but the way some people are......-
I strongly disagree with your comment about animals not feeling emotions. I've seen dogs that have been terrified (ie. previous owners abused them). While they don't display what they're feeling through facial expressions, a lot is evident through their body language. While their thoughts may not be as complex as ours, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they don't feel any emotions at all.

Read through this ... it's so great!
Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year-old)
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to
examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's
owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached
to Belker, and they were hoping for
a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of
cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker,
and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old
dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told
me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to
observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn
something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in
my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so
calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered
if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes,
Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition
without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for
a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the
s ad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped
up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came
out of his mouth next stunned me. I 'd never heard a more
comforting explanation.
He said, "People are born so that they
can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all
the time and being nice, right?" The six-year-old continued,
"Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you
would learn things like_
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to
be Pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and
nuzzle them gently.
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY! -
A few years ago the ASPCA had a commercial where a man came home from work in his business suit and was greeted by his puppy at the door. Bright eyed and tail wagging. The man went into his bedroom and started to change his cloths.
He put on a bra, a dress, makeup, lipstick etc. He stood and looked at his puppy The camera cut back to the puppy that was still bright eyed and tail wagging. And all was said is "They just don't care" unconditional and non bias love. Something man should adapt. -
As a dog I have received several
compliments just like this:
-- "He looks like a little person!"
From my perspective...What do you guys think
I like most? Humans or animals?
I like "animal lovers" (people) and dog lovers (animals:-)
A good quote:
"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill -
Animals all the way, haven't met an animal that has let me down, argued for no reason, insulted me! But I've met plenty of humans who've done those things. I think the problem is humans are cleverer than animals (for the most part) and because of that have a tendancy to do things for their own gain, even if it means being sneaky or underhand. Animals are straight down the line, what you see is what you get etc.. of course there are exceptions but as a generalisation.

I've pretty much given up on the human race. Animals, on the other hand, are pure, instinctive and devoid of emotion and reason, they just "Do".
