Are there any TV commercials that absolutely disgust you so much that they make you physically ill to the bone when you watch them?
Probably not, but I have three that come pretty darn close:
3. Free credit report dot com dweebs and their annoying little jingles.
2. Vonage, I hate the line where the guys throws down the line: "Oh, Really! Aren't they tired of having phone service"??
and probably the one I hate the most:
1. The Activia commerical featuring Jamie Lee Curtis, again with the jingle (I don't know what my problem is
here folks) but at the end when they sing out the word A-C-T-I-V-I-A.
I am extremely tired...so please forgive me with this ridicioulous thread.
What about You guys? Any television commericals that you can't stand or have to flip to another channel?

Hells yeah! I hate that awful J.G. Wentworth commercial where people keep opening their windows and shouting: "It's my money, and I need it now!"
Ick! I just wanna throw rocks at them... if I lived in TV Land on their street. -
Um...all of them? I'm so sick of being marketed to I'm on the verge of going TV-free again (although that won't get rid of billboards & whatnot. *sigh*)

I got that credit report dot com ditty in my head now. THANKS!
Dot Commmm!
I actually like ads, find them interesting. But there are lots that annoy me, right now I hate that car commercial, where the 2 guys drive the car to some tree in the middle of nowhere, like it's car heaven or something. Like we don't know it's gonna rust and make a lot of waste. Like none of us have seen a car wrecker place. And the music, and the stupid voice over.
Okay, I'm done. Dot Commmm! (stop it!) -
we have some Cravendale Milk adverts (apparently its filtered!) but the adds feature plastic pirate, cyclist and cow figures in a stop-start animation with some mad music - extremely funny ! well i find them funny anyway but what it has to do with milk (apart from the cow) i'm not sure.....
Anybody found them on youtube? -
here it is.... uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_NGabt5IHBg

I still remember a commercial from when I was a kid - Crazy Eddie, the most annoying man on earth who apparently had low prices on electronics. I actually backed away from the tv when he came on screaming. I wrote a blog post about it... I think he's burned in my mind forever www.newward.com/articles/?p=49

The ShamWow commercial... It's horrifying.
This weird dude named Vince-- who looks and sounds like a character out of Dick Tracy--
shows us how these shammy cloths can absorb liquid-- particularly when you cut away the film at the right moment, clean up the spill, and then cut back.
Then people chorus, "SHAM-WOW!" -
I'm not so much disgusted w/ commercials as I am with cable, satellite and all those other things. The commercials are intended to give you free television. The advertising pays for the actors, news anchors, etc. In fact every time it airs people are getting paid. So, why then do we pay for cable or what ever on a monthly basis? To pay the guy who did a one time installation chances are he won't be back unless you don't pay.

1. "Head on, apply direcly to the forehead - head on, apply directly to the forehead!!"
2. Any commercial that says "call now within the next 10 minutes" yet has been on the air since the late 1980's.
3. Any commercial featuring an actor in a lab coat with a stethoscope (sic) pretending to be a doctor. Fake testimonials in general just really tick me off.
4. Stations that advertise their own shows at TWICE the volume that they show regular programming. Why do the commercials come across so much louder?
5. I don't even remember the product - but that "natural male enhancement" stuff with the smiling idiot guy "Bob." Maybe I thought they were funny for a moment - now they just annoy me.
6. Have you seen the pop-up ads on TBS where a person in an ad for one of their tv shows pops up on screen - pauses the show your watching, does a bit about their show, and then returns you to the show your watching? Even more annoying is the fact that 10 seconds later your show goes to an actual commercial break with - you guessed it - Mr. popup again.
7. commercials featuring models acting like they have acne problems.
8. commercials that make people think men find rail-thin anorexia beautiful (we don't - or perhaps better said "I don't").
9. commercials for comedy movies that make the good jokes played out before you see them.
10. The lack of ALF in recent commercials. He was in those collect call commercials with Terry Bradshaw. Surely there's a product ALF can be selling these days. I tend to trust puppets a bit more than actors in lab coats with stethoscopes (again - i can't spell that).-
I suspect that they make commercials twice as loud as the shows so that you can hear them in the kitchen and the bathroom.
The ones that annoy me are the Alltel (?) ones where they've replaced one of the guys with another one wearing a horrible, fluffy wig. Why bother?!
The only one that I can remember actually turning off the television to get away from was a Kohl's commercial where the young lady featured was so thin that I was surprised she could walk with the heavy shoes on. They actually edited the commercial and took out one of the scenes where her collarbones and ribs clearly showed. I wanted to hunt her down, kidnap her, force-feed her some healthy food, and get her some not-ugly clothes, the poor little thing. -
I posted about #6 the other day. Bill Engvall interrupting Family Guy... Made me want to throw my remote through the TV.
And damn all of you mentioning the free credit report commercial because now it's stuck in my head, too.
We have some service that takes care of your car tickets. Another one with a HORRIBLE song. "Call T-I-C-K-E-T- one to get your traffic ticket done." -
kdawg beat me to it!
HEAD ON - APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD.
HEAD ON - APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD.
HEAD ON - APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD.
HEAD ON - Available at a drug store or pharmacy near you!
The latter HEAD ON commercials make fun of the original spots. They either got the message or planned it all along. Still pretty bad however. -
LOL - thanks guys.
Have you seen "head on" now makes fun of it's own commercials? What's next? Making fun of making fun of their commercials?
Bill Engvall - yup - that's the dork I was thinking of as the popup guy. I will NEVER watch that show just because of that annoying ad. Not that I would have anyway, but had it been on while I was doing something else, it may have remained on the tube - but now, now that I've seen that - no way - he's getting turned off. Hell, I'll watch murder she wrote before I watch that. Angela Lansbury never interrupted a show I was watching.

"5. I don't even remember the product - but that "natural male enhancement" stuff with the smiling idiot guy "Bob." Maybe I thought they were funny for a moment - now they just annoy me."
They're not around on tv anymore due to being sued, it was called Enzyte. -
All of them...but in particular that "relacore" or whatever commercial where they discuss body fat and how unattractive it is...complete with a diagram of the fat and where it lies on your body...not to mention the commercial itself is sometimes 3 minutes long!
Also, any car commercial where they keep spinning the cars rapidly. Yes, give me more spin! Must have spin! Must buy car! Seriously. What's with the spinning. -
Funny thing is... since TiVo and Apple TV, I rarely ever watch commercials. I've gotten so used to watching commercial-less content and getting news online, that I hardly have the patience for commercials anymore. I'm also a pretty big LOST fan and I cannot even bare to watch it live on Thursdays due to all the commercials. It's worth two bucks and a 12 hour wait to get it commercial-free via iTunes to me.
When I am watching LIVE TV and I really like the current show, I have to toss the remote out of reach so I don't change the channel during the few minutes of commercials (I suffer from CADD - Commercial Attention Deficit Disorder). Fact is... for every 1 hour of content there is roughly 20 minutes of commercials. -
