My cousin Samantha from South Carolina found out she had breast cancer a week or so ago. She has 5 beautiful children they live on Hilton Head Island. One of their kids has downsyndrome, but Samantha is like me she was meant to be a Mom.
I just got news that she just came out of surgery, they got all of the cancer. Now I would like it if you pray that it stays in remission, and she has a speedy recovery so she can get back to doing what she loves. Being a mom
just pray a little prayer please, and pass it on

Thanks so much...I'm gonna print out this thread and send it to her. I think it will give her great joy,and maybe get better soon.

I'm a cancer survivor too. I'd like to suggest that you also consider posting this into the 14 groups as well. Here's the link www.blogcatalog.com/groups/tag/Christian+

Holly, like TimeThief I'm proof that breast cancer is survivable.
You did not mention if she is going through chemo & radiation? If so, here are some things to help her healing be quick & fun.
- Remind her how sexy bald can be (maybe some surfboard wax as a humor gift).
- Remind her that she does not have to hide her bald head (sunscreen, yes). She has a family to spend time with, don't waste it fixing wigs and hairpieces and scarves.
- Go for short walks every day. The fresh air is invigorating, be it hot, cold, wet or tropical or Hilton Head (i.e. all of the above ..)
- Savor life by making a list of ten things she wants to accomplish. Do one thing toward one of those goals every day. She needs to think of something beside cancer.
- Watch for the effects of chemo-fog. If she has trouble with her memory, have her check with her oncologist for a prescription for Aricept. The same medicine that helps Alzheimer's will help chemo brain.
- She will likely have steroids to counteract the effects of chemo. They will act much the same way as a facelift (wooohoo!). They may also ramp up her appetite. I gained 50 pounds during chemo...sheeeesh.
- Above all else, keep her laughing. I made jokes about the whole process and it made a big difference for me and for my worried family.
- Whenever someone asks how she is doing, suggest answering with 'truly/thoroughly blessed' and a smile. It's a psychological thing that works miracles.
She will be in my prayers. Please keep me posted on her condition. - Remind her how sexy bald can be (maybe some surfboard wax as a humor gift).
