I just finished reading 'Neither here nor there,' travels in europe and it had me in splits. The cynicism and sarcasm is hilarious. Any more bill bryson fans out there?

Having thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, I had mixed feelings about his "Walk in the Woods," about starting to hike the AT but quitting, since it was funny, but he clearly didn't know much what he was talking about....

A fellow A.T.'er!!! I did not appreciate his sophomoric approach to A.T. life either. To each his own I guess.

    I LOVE BILL BRYSON!

My favorites are "Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe", and "Notes from a Small Island"

I laughed my ass off at his book Down Under about Australia of course. The man has a way with words.

I've read most of his travel books and found them hilarious. i struggled with the one about the english language but found it interesting. I think his biggest achievement is the brief history of everything, a fantastic book that everyone with an interest in science should read.

Bill Bryson is OK really I guess. He can be very funny and can make you laugh out loud. But he seems to be under the impression that Lincoln Cathedral in England has a spire, which makes you wonder if he really visited the place.

I just finished reading his book about Shakespeare and really enjoyed his sardonic humour.
