SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't seen last night's episode, don't read my intro. I give everything away. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

Katherine Heigl complained last season that the writing was subpar. Well the writers must be punishing her with pretty crappy scripts this season. I was rally puzzled by last night's episode. I mean, Izzy loved Denny so it's only natural that she would think of him, but for the writers to go so far as for her to have actual, physical sex with him and then really be naked afterwards I think exceeds the bounds of reasonableness in drama writing. We're talking about her imagination here, not an apparition. And if Denny's an apparition now...well let's just say I signed on for a medical drama, not the X-Files. There was no demarcation between fact and imagination in that encounter at all. Plus, Denny had real emotions separate and apart from those Izzy could reasonably have imagined. When she chose Alex at the end of the episode, Denny seemed sad even when she turned away from him…as though he was really there and really had his own emotions.

And the part about the interns performing surgical procedures on each other...have the script writers gone to the point of dabbling in complete farcical nonsense to create episodes? Has the creative well run so dry that you'd really write an episode about an intern performing an appendectomy on another intern "just for the experience"! I know people who are in and who've graduated from medical school. This scenario doesn't even come close to any they've experienced in the real world. I think that's poetic license gone wild.

So, what do you think? Are the script writers on Grey's reaching because they've run out of ideas or do you think the show still has wonderful, creative scripts? Honestly, the only thing I liked about last night's episode was the music.

    Okay, I'll fess up...I'm a fan.

I think the show is touching on jumping the shark, but just touching, not quite there yet...

When Denny reappeared, he told Izzie more than once, "I'm here for you." My thought is that Denny will hang around until Izzie is "killed off" (probably end of season) and then we'll know what he really meant by "I'm here for you." I kind of like that as a season finale!

The interns operating on each other was really silly and I agree on the soundtrack...it's pretty awesome.

I completely agree! I think Grey's is bordering on jumping the shark, which is really painful to admit because I used to love this show so much!

I'm definitely hoping this Denny thing is leading up to Izzie being killed off which is why he's there, to take her back with him. I really can't think of ANY other option that would make this storyline okay.

Yeah, this Izzie dies angle is really starting to interest me. That is the only explanation that makes Denny's appearance (and her freaky ghost sex with him) plausible. Plus, let's be honest...Izzie's character is useless. I think Alex is bordering on useless too. He certainly flailed around all last season.

Yeah, the Denny/Izzie exchanges are too mysterious...all of the "I'm here for you" and "I'm not going anywhere" If he didn't vanish in a poof when she went off with Alex then something big must be in the wings...you think?

dratiffarid - yeah, Izzy's part is definitely becoming boring. Been that way since about three episodes into last season.

roadgurl - that idea about Izzy being killed off in the season finale...good one, I like it! There's not much use for her on the show now anyway and I hear they're coming out with "28 Dresses" next year (joking). I like the irony of her being in crappy (though funny) movies and then complaining about the writing on Grey's Anatomy.

...So we've got two people willing to admit to Grey's Anatomy as a guilty pleasure. Anyone else?

    I actually loathe the show

On the other hand, I watched the season finale of Sons of Anarchy, and was on the absolute edge of my seat, and then angry because they soooo left me hanging.

I can't wait until the next season starts up!

How could you not like Grey's Anatomy!

Actually, I would prefer to watch CSI in that time slot, but my wife won out. She's also got me watching Desperate Housewives over Family Guy, but that's another story.

Anyway, I never really heard much about Sons of Anarchy. What channel does it come on anyway?

Oh no, desperate housewives?! *barf* and over Family Guy at that?!

I think I'll need to have a talk with your wife....

I don't know who the actress is - but I think she's the main character in Grey's Anatomy - I cannot stand her, I just....*ugh*....but the show is a little too soapy for my taste.

Now, SoA is on FX, usually Wednesdays' 10PM sharp. It's a bit soapy too, but way more action packed And it has motorcycles, and bikers, and corruption, and explosions...and ...yeah.

      I love it

I've never seen SoA but it sounds good...I love action flicks!

The show is definitely getting too close to shark time. I don't mind creativity... pushing the edges, but it's getting close to stupid. Reminds me of the TV show, Dallas years ago, when an entire season was built upon a "dream" sequence... had everyone second guessing all season long and left a lot of fans definitely teed off...

I will continue to watch greys, if only to see how the writers get themselves out of the box they are building for themselves and these characters. On a positive note, I like the ex army doctor...think he and Anna could be an interesting scene...
