I am really interested in talking and exchanging information on the best methods for SEO. I want to get my sites on the top few pages of the search results organically, preferably with zero money spent.

    Welcome to BC.

I want to get my sites on the top few pages of the search results organically, preferably with zero money spent.

    lol ... don't we all?

There are between 170,000 and 200,000 BC members and most never post to this forum, but don't despair because there's a Search link on every BC page. The search utility contains filters and the tags on your forum thread above can be used as search terms.

It is not worth spending money if you only have a hobby site except if you want to transform it into a professional activity like advising people on how to train their dog, etc.

Depends on how much you value your time. I have around 15k unique users a month, all via organic, free SEO. Took the better part of a year to get there.

I´m not a professional seo expert, but here are the tactics I use for linkbuilding:
I use mainly article marketing, blog commenting, the google profile site, some social bookmarking sites and a very useful tool to build masses of high quality backlinks, to learn more about it, check out my blog:

Hiya Jijosunny, many thanks for the great information.
I am really excited that my websites position on Alexa is now 380,000 in the world. Still behind a huge number of sites but it's going in the right direction and it proves that all the effort is beginning to show results.

I would like to say thankyou to everyone for being good enough to share their knowledge.
