My friend is considering buying a digital camera but he isn't sure which one to get.

There are a few things he wants;
1) easy to use
2) simple one, not dslr
3) one with viewfinder
4) zoom feature

By the way, he had never owned/used digital camera before.

Any good suggestions?

    I would NOT recommend a Fuji. I have one, and more frequently revert to my 35mm because it takes better pics.

    I recently bought the fuji finepix with 10x zoom and I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

      That's what I have, is the Finepix. I'm glad somebody likes it. If I could afford a new one, I'd give this one away.

    i strongly suggest going with a Canon brand camera -- they have a lot of different options depending on the size & options you're looking for. but the best part is canon is REALLY good about their warranty (they've fixed my SD500 twice for free). great customer support & really reliable, usable cameras.

    Yup, I have a Canon Powershot I really like. Good zoom, can also take excellent close-up shots in terms of flowers, insects, etc...My only complaint is unless you use rechargeable batteries, it really goes through batteries quickly.

    We have cannon 20D - very good but kind of expensive.

    I use a Canon Powershot A630 and it has been great for me. It's my first digital camera and I love it.

    I use a Canon A530 for the newspaper work I do and for some of my blog shots. I got a great deal on it from Office Depot (join their free rewards program and you get great discounts). It's very easy to use, and I've really done a few very nice photos with it. I'm in the process of buying a more sophisticated one, but this little camera really is sturdy and easy to use. Good luck!--best, Kay

    Canon DSLR D20 - but I also have a Sony Cybershot.

    Canon are fantastic. I'm in love with my Canon DSLR.

    Sony Cybershot - we used these everyday at kindergarten (check www.manaiakindergarten.blogspot.com) and we've been through a few - so not sure if that's a fault on their part - or just that they get hammered at work.

    Too many choices but also dependent on your budget and type of photography. Can's really go wrong with a Canon Powershot/IXUS or a Panasonic.
