That depends on what you mean by survivalist?

my husband and i take care to know and practice everyday things with regards to surviving outside of modern day life. Like making our own clothing, growing our own food, hunting, repair and maintenance of things without technology that sort of thing.

Yes that's the lifestyle I lead. It's simple and very close to the earth. FWIW we have already addressed this in a previous and very interesting thread www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/in-a-barter-economy-whats-your-skill Also you are certainly not alone on BC. If you use the Search facility and filters found at the top of every BC page you will find others who are like minded.

I do so as much as I can. Unfortunately, the only things I get to plant are clandestine plants in open areas. I live in an apartment where potted plants are forbidden in the contract. So It's the Johnny Appleseed thing for me. But I keep few possessions, anticipating that one day I will need to be a nomad with only the tools on my back, and look for others to help.

  Because some set potted plants in the exterior walkways against the fire code. When management saw this, they banned the plants entirely. It had nothing to do with Venus LeManTrappe in the photo.

I am an avid student of the “Zombie Survival Guide” by survivalist author Max Brooks. I learned a lot from that important text. When the Swine Flu turns mankind into flesh-eating zombies…I’ll be prepared, if nobody else will!
