I am trying to find good places to list my blog, or advertise my blog to get good quality views.

I have an art blog (www.beardedbunnyblog.blogspot.com) and an immortality blog (www.zombierobotfrosting.blogspot.com) and I always struggle with finding places to get good traffic.

For those blogs similar to mine, or simply people with high readership, I would love to hear your tips or tricks to getting more readers.

Search for blogs that are in the same niche as yours then visit the blogs and leave a comment. Put your blog link in the comment so they can visit your blog. Put your blog articles in search engines. Put your link in forums that fit your niche. Use e-zines and surf sites. Put link on business cards and give them to the cashier when paying for your purchases or leave them on the table when you dine out. Buy some window sticky and put your blog link in the back window of your car. There are millions of ways to promote your blog You just have to think of a few unique ways to do so. Put fliers in bathrooms and on advertising boards, on cars at the mall (if that is allowed)It's not much work if you keep all these items in your car. Trade links with others who have sites that are like yours or can be of use with yours. Like a framing store. Or an art supply store.
    Best of luck

  3. polybore
Very good blog you have there, love the work. Polybore is going to keep an eye on it.

Here is an excellent place for you. www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/yourstudio/

You will get traffic from there or polybore will eat their/ your hat.

Actually, having reviewed your "online presence" you might consider abandoning the blogspot blog set it to redirect to williamhessian.com. Instead integrate your blog into www.williamhessian.com should be easily done with most management systems or maybe self host with wordpress at the same domain.

In this instance for once the advice is to keep all your eggs in the same basket. A basket called williamhessian.com

Blogs are pretty good at getting indexed by google because of all the text they generate. If you have your blog in the same domain as your web site it is going to help drive the traffic to where you want it.

Great concept. polybore would like to work with you, unfortunately not sure how you would benefit from such an arrangement.

thank you time thief, polybore, and kowgirl.

amazing. you guys knocked the ball out of the park with my question I really appreciate all of this advice.

polybore, i am trying to find an easy way to merge my blog with my website, and have been doing a lot of cross linking, but having a hard time trying to figure out how to completely switch over. I manage my own html the old fashioned way on my personal website and am not sure how to convert it all. I would like to work with you as well.

I am on Saatchi gallery, but havn't done a lot with it. I'm not even sure when i last logged in. I will revisit and expand.

Timethief, these are great links. I am going to simply start at the top and go through them one by one. I am extremely greatful for this list, as it will help me immensily. On my freetime i google search for things like this, but it takes me hours to find a few good sites.

Kowgirl, I really enjoy your advice as well. I have made up some stickers and business cards but havn't been doing enough with them. It does not seem to generate as much traffic as I would hope, but maybe it justs starts slow. The car sticker and leaving cards everywhere is a great idea.

thanks. and if anyone has more advice I'd love to hear it.
    1. timethief
On my own behalf, you're welcome and best of luck.
    2. polybore
You should be able to run wordpress in a subdirectory without effecting your html site. wordpress.org/support/topic/239532

Your hosting will need to meet these requirements wordpress.org/about/requirements/

Transferring your blog posts across should be reasonably straight forward. Polybore believes wordpress has a plug-in specifically for facilitating this.

      @joltsramblings
I don't know what you mean. I do see that you have been dropping a blog link into every comment you make and I know that doing so is not allowed

I'm curious about this blog traffic do you have any ideas to help me more thanks..
    1. codesucker
julipie have you went through all TT's 25 steps above and you are looking for more guidance? Looks like that list would keep me busy for a while
  6. codesucker
nevermind, I misplaced my Google button
  7. williamhessian
im on time thiefs third links so far. and have read TT's list, and plan to use much of that advice as well.

this is great advice and i cant wait to join all these sites i didnt know existed.

poly, i plan to match up those requirements and see if i can pull that off. this is exciting. thanks.
    1. timethief
      @williamhessian
I'm so happy to hear that you are working your way through the steps. Those who have had the patience and commitment to do so did increase their organic traffic. I also hope that at least some of the art networks I found are a good fit for you too.
  8. williamhessian
    humble voice is quite cool
each of these will take me a couple hours to build solid profiles. but it will be great to have those as portals to my work.

    thanks so much
  9. williamhessian
tt, i noticed your expertise with wordpress. do you agree poly about merging my blog with my main art website?
    1. timethief
      Yes I agree with polybore.
  10. Financialnut
I agree with much of what has been mentioned already. If I can just add one more thing to what has been said, it would be CONSISTENCY! Don't just submit 5 or 6 articles this week on EzineArticles.com and then stop, but do 2 to 3 per week consistently. Don't just leave 2 or 3 blog comments per day for a week, but do it over the course of 3 or 4 months and see what happens.

The problem with most of us and blog promotion is the hope that our action today will equal traffic tomorrow. NOT TRUE! Our action today will equal traffic in 3 months.

Just be patient. It'll work. Hey- I'm living proof! Not to say that I have a wildly successful blog (yet), but I have managed to get 200 visitors per day on a fairly regular basis now, and the strategies that TT posted above is it! Just do it and you'll be fine!
  11. williamhessian
    thanks finnut,

thats good advice. i am easily discouraged if my work doesnt produce immediate results. so just having you say that, helps me.

i do think i lack some consistently. I use so many websites to promote advertise and announce posts, that it is a very grueling ordeal for me. i enjoy blogging, but not so much marketing it. Although once or twice a month (like now) i feel like finding new places to put myself. Although, i do what you mention, and take weeks off of promotion at a time.

i need to work on that.
    1. Financialnut
You'll get it. Just remember that it takes just that- consistency. I get tired of doing blog carnivals and guest posts, etc... but they pay off later. Not today; not tomorrow; probably not even next week! But in the coming months I'll be glad I did.

Good luck to you on your blog!
  12. Seabuckthorn
I have good fortune promoting on Craigslist. It takes seconds per day, and has a long tail.
  13. williamhessian
seabuck! i also do this, and have my most success with craigslist. its so quick and i get good hits for a week. i dont like listing all over the country tho, because it gets tiring.
  14. Seabuckthorn
Hi williamhessian: How is it tiring?
  15. loopingan1988
Hmm have you ever tried Generator traffic website??
It really give you a ton of traffic in a short period time.
There are many of them but two of them I usually use is:
    a.easyhits4u.com/splash21.php?ref=loopingan88
    and www.traffic-splash.com/?referer=loopingan88.
I hope this will help you improve your traffic
  16. williamhessian
seabuck, do you just post in your own area? or do you post all over the country?

i'm always tempted to post my craigslist postings all over the US, to maximize hits. However, it ends up taking a while when you are posting dozens and dozens of entries.

i have not checked those out looping, i will. and maybe give you some referral points.
    1. Seabuckthorn
I post all over the world, but I am very frugal with my posts, just a few a day and never more than one post per day on a particular topic. I find it's all about getting into the right category with the right tone.

I have a craigslist account, which makes posting much quicker, because there's no approval email. Also all listings are shown together and removed or expired postings are highlighted. It's really great.

I don't know about looping or referral points, were you addressing me?
  17. OneMuslim
Advertise on Tv every week and there, nobody else can beat you.
  18. williamhessian
one muslim, you advertise on TV for your blog? how do you afford this?

seabuck, wow. i didnt even know you can register for craigslist, i need to do that. thanks for that advice, that will help. the looping was in response to another post.
    1. Seabuckthorn
@williamhessian: How is it going with CraigsList? Did you ever register for an account?
  19. loopingan1988
I though craiglist only for publishing stuff not website. William, thanks for checking it

i do not share a similar blog like yours, yet wud like to suggest, checkw with some blog directories that update links on Real Time.
You should find your blog category there.

Also ensure you make regular updates on your blog, to keep up BLOG VIEWER/ READER LOYALTY.
