I'm thinking of doing an online photography course and wondered if anyone could share their experiences.

If you have done one, what did you get out of it?

Was it worth it?

Have you gone on to do paid work?

I would think you would be better doing a night class at your local college rather than an online course. What's the difference between an online course and reading a book on it? At least in a college night class you get some personal feedback and it's easier to ask questions.

You still get personal feedback and because of the work I do I can't do weekend stuff. I could read books and do but interaction with professional photographers would be really useful and it means you can ask questions all the time.

I'm not keen on evening classes, you never know the type of people you might get stuck with!

I have to agree with the pink donkeh and would prefer a real class over an online one. In fact I am doing one later on this year, as I am taking the photographs for my sisters wedding next year.

Hey! I do a night class for my counselling diploma, cheeky mare

I rest my case! Ha ha. No, for anything else I would but I think an online course would be more convenient for me in this case.

Good luck with the course, big responsibility wedding photographs but always nicer and more personal than bringing someone else in.

Some of my best friends are counsellors by the way! All power to you.

Let me know if you find a good one, I am not totally opposed to doing one. I just think you could probably find all the online tutorials you needed if you looked? But for me that would be too much of a headache

Also me doing the wedding photographs is a lot cheaper and I don't have to be in them!

No I haven't. I just take photographs without knowing any technicalities.

crpitt, you will have to get a tripod, you can't not be in them The OU isn't too expensive.

Like you say, online tutorials would be a pain to seek out. And you can find a lot from books but it's not the same as proper tuition.

Will let you know what i find.

Oh I can indeed be not in them

Hopefully some photography type people will chime in here too and impart some of their wisdom.

It's best if she's not in them really, you don't want them spoiled.

That's what I was hoping too. C'mon photography experts where are you?

Aningeniousname, they would not be spoiled - only enhanced!

Oh, yeah. I took three photography classes in college. The third one was a bit meh, but I learned a lot from the first two.

So it is worth doing a proper course then rather than just going by trial and error?

What kind of class you thinking of? Digital or Film
I did takes some classes in college and nothing compares to black/white film.

Well it will be digital because that's the kind of cameras I have. But I do agree I love the black and white film too.
