I just upgraded 2 days ago (self-hosted) because I thought it would help simplify my multiple file uploads. Now I'm getting problems uploading images instead(it works only some of the time) Grr... I'm starting to miss some aspects of the old interface... like the draggable widgets on the Write Post page. What are your grouses?

I am on my "Should Be Famous" blog.I haven't uploaded images but there are some fixes out there I think, I've seen that complaint written all over the place.
I couldn't do the auto-plug-in upgrade it brought me to an error page of some kind. So far that is my only issue besides a few plug-ins not working - Gregarious.

      Maybe this is my issue!

My other 2 updated no problem!

By the way , let me say to all users of Wordpress 2.5 that Intense Debate(blog comment system) is ready for use with Wordpress 2.5 !

You know I tried that when it was in beta and for some reason it never worked with my blog. It spread across the whole page breaking up the theme. I'd like to use it as it would be better to respond to each comment individually so maybe I'll try it again.

Is there a link somewhere to the updated version?

I have been lucky so far with it, although I have a friend that I upgraded it to. They can do the multiple file upload fine, but the co-author of the blog can't. It seems like a browser issue for some people.

I upgraded I'm having trouble getting pictures from the uploader to the post, but I just upload then use the normal add image button and use the url where the picture uploaded to. That'll work for a bit, but I'd rather it worked the way it was meant to work.

Yeah, I agree, I created a directory using my website and upload photos to it and then copy and past the URL into the add image section. But I CANNOT upload any files at all. I am using 2.5. When I try to it hangs up on "CRUNCHING". I hate the new version. It messed up my whole blog. Then we updated to 2.5.1 and I lost everything and it's been a nightmare ever since.

its a mod security issue you need to add something to your htaccess file

Thank you for this! I've been trying to find a solution. It works now.

    I'm using 2.5. now!
I was scared, and I didn't use "Maintenance plugin" (silly me) but 2.5 is great!

I have a couple of WP blogs and yet to upgrade them. I'll wait for a couple of months until the ''stable'-stable' version is released. Bugs are abound, regardless what they say..

I upgraded a couple of hours after it is distributed and love it... I agree that it has some "minuses" in compare to older version but it has also many "pluses" i couldn't ignore...

Could you kindly let us know what suffering you experience. And thankyou kindly for testing it for the rest of us. :-)

I used it for roughly one day and I downgraded back to 2.3.3 because there are so many bugs with it!
  17. oxay
I don't think there are too many bugs in it because it was released after 3 RC versions. But there are things that sometimes cause headaches. The most complained part has been the gallery and photo uploading and i think they found a solution to it. Here is a nice post about it= joshhighland.com/blog/2008/03/30/wordpress-25-image-upload-problem-solved/
In my blog, when i am writing a post, it automatically saves it as a draft and doesn't delete after i publish. And when i try to delete the draft it halts and says something about "fsock socket" but when i go back to dashboard i see it actually deleted the draft and it's funny i sometimes can't find what i am looking for in its older location and it will be quite hard to get used to new menus. In the very beginning, i faced problems with some plugins and i suggest that was normal. I cannot use some plugins now but i am OK with that. Beyond that i really like the new fresh design and some other new features like one click plugin updates, media library and batch uploading, writing your own excerpt for the post etc... But if there's a bug, i am 2 sure mine will the one of the first hacked WP2.5 blogs

I just switched to Wordpress so I am total a NooB. I was using Blogger and was getting pretty efficient now I am at wordpress and its a new learning curve. I did not know there was a 2.5 I will check it out. How can you tell if you are using 2.5?
  19. oxay
Go to your blog's dashboard, look at the footer, here is the WP version of your blog...

They upgraded it for me. My blog is less than two weeks old, but I was starting to get use to the system. Now, I guess I will have to get use to this one.

I updated to 2.5 using AutoUpGrade because I'm not technologically literate enough to do it manually hehehe
  22. ccRicers
One of the plugins I'm working on wouldn't work after upgrading to 2.5. I gotta see if 2.5 uses a different way to update databases and whatnot...

I was thinking of converting my blog to WordPress. Now, I'm not so sure. Thanx for sharing.

I'm so glad to hear that those bloggers posting to this thread did not experience the problems that others did (images, gallery, categories, links, tags, widgets and plugins, editor problems, spellchecker, IE browser conflicts with widgets, font size changes, etc.) Yesterday there were 888 support tickets pertaining to upgrade problems so consider yourself lucky indeed.

From what I can tell those with updated Operating systems and updated browsers who also have the latest flash update aren't experiencing the problems that others are. Some of those with media intensive and plugin intensive sites are still experiencing problems. And Some windows 98 users tell me that they are totally hooped when it comes to uploads. One told me that she sent in an error report that had about four dozen separate errors just from opening the Upload Media box.

one problem with the wp 2.5 is the post ID its not listed anymore. I found out you have to look at the address bar when you open/edit your post. its an issue for those who use blog editors like bloggar and scribefire which is dependent on post id to look for the post.

what I like in the wp 2.5 is the ease of upgrading your plugins with just a click and wp will do the rest deactivating/activating/install

    wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stats/
this is the first time I use wp stats and it looks great! your stats are shown in the dashboard.

    wordpress.org/extend/plugins/reply-to/
@reply This plugin allows you to add Twitter-like @reply links to comments.

I started with 2.5, and then upgraded to 2.51 and suddenly I noticed I couldn't upload images, my host had to reset the permissions for me. It seems wordpress might change the permissions of folders when you upgrade.
