    ahh, it's easy, just increase visitors to your blog then you see alexa ranking is also decrease (lower number is better)

    You need to decrease it, not increase

    Clarification, Alexa page rank depends not only on the number of visitors, but also on the number of web pages on unique sites that point to your blog.

    For example, many people visit your blog everyday... BUT! only a few (say only two) sites link back to you -- your Alexa rating wouldn't nudge definitely.

    For people to visit your site and link to your pages, they must enjoy your content... and for them to enjoy your content, it must be visible on search engines... and it isn't a matter of a silver bullet to accomplish that. It takes time (years, in fact!), patience, and hard work. Newbie bloggers whose sites don't offer much content of interest never succeed in this area. Believe me, I know.

    I do battle with Alexa on a daily basis. Currently I am losing with a page rank of 566,578. Though, that is up from the 9,000,000 I started at.

      If am not wrong, the increase could be double if page rank still around 1000000 and above in number, [higher number, lower in rank, red. but after below 500.000, is very difficult.

    Link backs can be indentified if you have installed Google Webmaster Tools support on your blog. You will have to signup first here:
    www.google.com/webmasters/tools

    Then install the verification on your blog, then check for external links.

    the best solution is not to be too concerned about it;
    just do your best in whatever you're doing, you'll be rewarded in the end.

    Happy New Year!

    Like Google PR, i think Alexa's ranking is quite confusing as well. Better not to think too much about it. Nevertheless, having a higher ranking gives you better online opportunities.

    Hi,

    The visitors to your blog will need to have Alexa's tool bar installed.
    Once I read something really funny. It went someehat like this : at your work, turn the homepages of all computers into your blog, when at other people's houses, do the same, do it on every computer that you find :-)
    I'm not saying to install the toolbar into every computer because you might have to update your blog from the bed of a hospital :-)

    Happy New Year,

    José
