This is getting out of control seriously. Do you think there is too much of these kind of threads? I mean I understand, people want to promote their blogs, they want followers, comments, someone to hear them out BUT if you see the first 15 topics saying FOLLOW ME AND I'LL FOLLOW YOU wouldn't it be simpler to just leave your links there and not to create one MORE?!
Whatcha think?

Sorry to add to the great conversation but if you follow me I'll follow you back lol only joking. I know what you mean there are many posts like that on most blogging based sites. I guess as long as there are new bloggers we will always have them types of posts. And do you know how many new blogs are started everyday? It will surprise you!

I seem to be one of the few this doesn't bother. If they ask to be friends, I always say yes whatever their blog. If they shout me, I usually delete it.

I think we are all sick of such threads. Admin asks us to report them.
I'll follow you - you follow me and I'll comment you - you comment me threads

that is honestly how i got started on here. It does help bring attention to your blog and get followers but not good ones. They dont really "follow" in the sense. So yeah, i dont do those anymore. All I really do is post a general discussion that is in the same as a post I did on my blog and offer them the ability to read my blog or just comment on the discussion post.

- If you don't mind me saying so, I think you have been doing remarkably well. Given the fact there isn't an orientation of any kind, we all start by fumbling around in the dark, hoping that other members will illuminate our way.
I have prepared and posted many threads for the BC New Users group that I hope are helpful. Please feel free to join the group, and if you need help send me a shout or post into the Help required thread there. www.blogcatalog.com/group/new-blog-catalog-users/discuss

Yes, it's actually considered a form of spamming and is like the Yahoo Answers mentality of answering someone's question and then saying 'answer mine please'.

yessssssss! blogging shouldn't be like a sort of stupid competition, all about clicking. I don't care about people just making a click on my blog. What I'm interested in is getting in touch with people sharing my passions and willing to exchange experiences

Couldnt agree more with you.
Bloggers should always focus on quality rather than quantity-in this case, quality of visitors and comments received.
Theres nothing wrong in getting to know other bloggers.
My own way of doing this is if I come to new blog in my niche(or not),and provided that I like the content,I simply contact the owner (via email, facebook, twitter) just to simply say hi and how much i like reading his/her content.
I did not ask the owner to come to my blog. What I did is just leave a simple link at the end.Just in case the owner decided to check out who I am.
It works better because you're just contacting him just to say hi (not to spam or sell something) and you didnt 'force' him/her to visit your blog.
Although this is a slow process and requires some effort, but its genuine...and real.

Maybe I should have brought my pipe along when I first joined so that I could have everybody following my blog without me asking.
Is that allowed? -
I don't see the point behind "follow me and I'll follow you" Is blogging about just having hmm, like what 10 followers following your blog and only 1 is actually reading it?
Or is it about the joy of finding some good read, enjoy reading it and you will by default find yourself coming back to the very same blog =)
Frankly am new here (or recently started to be active here) place is really nice full of nice people, but everywhere you just gotta find one bad apple...-
I agree! I just joined here and I'm already getting "I clicked on your blog click on mine" I don't want people to click on my blog so I can get a big number, I want to get some good conversations, or just be able to share my thoughts and hear what other people think.
You're right though, you can't have a blog site without people posting just to get replies.

I got a "hey, I klicked on your ads, please the same in return". Thats anoying. And I dont even have any ads, so what the hell did he klick on?

I am so tired of those types of threads. I think I can honestly say for the most part...everyone on here is computer literate. We know how to search categories for other blogs if we are interested in reading something new. Most importantly, I hate the ki$$ my blog because I just ki$$ yours!

it's always the same old story. i get the email, "sparky has made you a friend". so i race over to sparky to see what kind of character he or she is because i grew up under the old expression "show me who your friends are and i'll show you who you are". and when i finally get to sparky, he or she has 145,277 friends already. so that gets me thinking, sparky isn't that careful with whom he or she is friends with. there could be unsavory characters in sparky's circles.
so i leave well enough alone, albeit disappointed.
