I feel that Comics are more entertaining than novels, as you get enjoyment in small doses.
Novels on the other hand provide entertainment over a long period of time.

What do you personally feel, should research be done on the usefulness of the comic?

This is a pretty subjective thing.

Still, I'll bet there is already research out there relating to literacy and comics. I'm no educator though, so I have no idea where to look.

    Most comics give you laughter.

    Most novels make you cry.

In term of Entertainment of course comics > novels.

Depends...I am very visual. I like art, tv, movies and comics over books. I feel like I miss out sometimes.

depends on the story. neither medium is more entertaining than the other, per se. it depends on the story, the characters, the plot, the writing, and the art.

blankets, by craig thompson is a damn good read. so is brooklyn dreams by j.m. dematteis.

I'd hardly call Alan Moore's From Hell a small dose of entertainment. Comics are more then just 24 page floppies after all.

As for books not offering up small doses of highly entertaining material I'd argue the Choose Your Own Adventure series is as entertaining as anything out there.

Your question is out of answer. I hate coffee but you may not.

Never liked comics. So I guess I don't agree. I enjoy novels & short stories. Why do research on the usefulness? If you like it you like it ... that's all that matters.

I prefer a novel over a comic. I do love to watch a good comic though (Spiderman, Superman, Ironman, Wonder Woman)
