I am staying at a resort in Costa Rica. I have been to several spas and had a variety of facials, body massages etc. Here these treatments seem ESPECIALLY expensive.

Does anyone know do they really work? For example, some claim to increase collagen and decrease celllite. I know they are relaxing and make you feel good.

However, $200 for a body treatment or $170 for a facial seems a little unreasonable.

Just wanting some opinions. Thanks.

They are expensive, I've done it once ... it was wonderful so to me well worth it because it felt great and I had a great day & felt so relaxed afterwards. Can't put a price tag on that. Well, I guess you can. It's certainly not something I can afford to do more than once or twice in my lifetime, but it was nice!

As for doing what they claim, not sure about that.

I agree. You can't put a price tag on how great these treatments make you feel. However, hard to get that wonderful feeling when you feel like you're being overcharged.

Well, that is true. I think that often you're paying for the place, the surroundings or the name ... more so than for the product or what the product can do.

I can do a lot with $200.00 as opposed to only 45 minutes of bliss.

At those prices, I'll give you a facial
(Said only with purest intentions in mind)

i handled PR for a 5 star resort & spa and their treatments were VERY expensive, but their guests swore by them. if you have the money apparently it's quite worth it if $300 for a back facial is out of your reach, go get a nice mani/pedi those are relaxing too

I don't mind spending on the spa treatment occasionally. It not only helps me to relax but this is the way I treat/pamper myself.

Funny you should bring up spa treatments...Sunday I blogged about making your own salt scrubs, one of the most invigorating spa treatments I've ever had.

its worth it for the relaxation factor...some people go for the anti aging aspect and I believe it shouldn't be the number one factor to going to a spa...because it may not be too effective

I think it's worth it if you're rich.

It wouldn't be for me, but then again I don't find spa treatments or massages relaxing at all.

But if you do, and you're interested, then why not?
