Recently gas station owners in Quebec, Canada plead guilty to illegally fixing gas prices. Do you think this is a common practice?

Just like the housing bubble bursted, so will the oil trading bubble. The high price of crude oil is based purely on speculation by the traders. It's BS if you ask me!

"Are gas prices manipulated for greater profit?"
I sure hope so. Otherwise, how would anyone make any money on it?

Well, I am originally from Brazil and we all know the gas stations over there have cartel.. the government somehow oversees this illegal practice. It's awful for us customers.

One garage I saw today displayed a 0.01p per litre reduction in price! First time for months.

There's so much more to gas prices than this. I write about it in my blog. Station owners are under tremendous pressure to ease "global warming" and paying out of pocket for it. Big Oil plays a huge role, along with government. Great timing!

The goal of any business is to make money. What kind of businessman says, "I don't want to make anymore profits than I already am making"? NONE. It's all about making money, it will always be about making money, thats it! Are businessmen all crooks? Why don't you open up a business and then tell me how you enjoy not making any money? Then we'll talk about morals.

Gas prices are not going to go down, supply is not going to increase over the long haul. It may vary a bit up and down, but there is simply less of it and more demand for it.
