Due to families having both mom and dad working to pay the bills, the time spent being a cohesive family unit is at a minimum—or practically non-existent.
Many parents substitute the television and a series of video games in the event to compensate for absentee parenting. Therefore, the time spent interacting with their children usually is under an hour.
Research reports that working fathers typically spend roughly 15 minutes with their children whereas working mothers spend anywhere between 30 – 45 minutes.
An elitist, E. Rothschild, said it best, “if we work on removing the parental element, we can manipulate the children to do our biding or aid us in carrying out our agenda”. Although his statement is one to be less desired, one has to wonder what are children watching to their parents' unawares let alone the video games they often times play.

As a single parent of four I know full well that we have to make some tough choices...Making the conscious choice to stay home and raise the children I created was not one of them! I firmly believe we create our own Monsters!! I also fully admitt at various stages of my childrens lives to using the TV and gaming world to babysit my children as I've got the dinner ready or bathed another one or just plain needed time out BUT I know what they are watching, playing and who with - staying engaged is being informed!
