Narcissism (Merriam Webster's Dictionary) -
1 : EGOISM, EGOCENTRISM
2 : love of or sexual desire for one's own body
I like to think of narcissism as a love of one's own body and soul.
How much of a narcissist are you?

I recently discovered that sometimes I think that only me can solve some problems.
Quite narcissistic! -

That and you've got your own face popping up all over the screen when you respond to lots of threads. Apparently, I'm more of a shoe-issist.
I think that most folks have to be at least a touch narcissistic to blog for more than a couple of months, unless they're affiliate sheep scrabbling for the pennies.

Only my right hand has desire..so what does it make me! -
Narcissism is a mental health diagnosis. We should probably be careful about tossing around the label in general conversation. Who is and isn't a narcissist is a question for qualified psychiatrists to determine.

Nope. Dramatic overuse of words that used to mean something has a seriously negative impact on communication and frequently serves to desensitize people to the real meaning of those words so that no one takes them seriously when they count. It's a destructive practice generally engaged in by people who are more interested in drawing attention than accuracy.

There are plenty of publications that address healthy narcissism, although most are in medical journals. "Why is it always about you?: the seven deadly sins of narcissism" by Sandy Hotchkiss, James F. Masterson gives a good explanation of healthy narcissism on p.298. As far as me listing the dictionary definition, it was just for quick reference. No one-line definition can explain the intricacies of a set of psychological conditions which have not been fully hammered out by the medical community. And just because you haven't heard of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Trying to use the dictionary definition to rebut an idea (healthy narcissism) that has been created and used by the psychological community is laughable. Like I said, just because you haven't heard of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm not going to do all the research for you.

There's the accusation I'm talking about. It wasn't even necessary to add it, but you did. And for what reason? I can't think of anything constructive.
