I have a long history of wanting to believe the best in someone, even if their actions say differently. Instead of accepting the ugly truth, I rationalized by finding some sort of 'goodness.'

But the years have taught me to trust in the decency of core personality traits instead. I believe looking at a person's core traits is the an accurate way to know what exactly I'm working with...and saves much dissapointment.

Today I put my thoughts into words and blogged:

I used to be; now I'm a skeptic.

I'd rather trust people than be paranoid or defensive. It's a freer, happier way to live. Trust people, and at the same time don't expect anything from them.

I sort of agree. I used to trust people a lot but have been jaded enough to now hope for the best in people but be wary of the worst.

I think the best way to do it to look always for the good in others BUT always make sure to look out for your own self
