I was recently accosted by one of God's creatures, and I had to share the tale.

accountabilitycorner.com/life/whats-a-dork-like-me-supposed-to-do.html

What I wanted to know, as kind of a follow up, is...

Are you allergic to bees or other biters or stingers, and if so, what kind of issues do you face when you are bitten/stung by the lil buggers?

Wow...said stinging/biting bugs...not bugs of the spreading kind or transmitted variety...anyone?

wolfcreek, that is one well-writen, hillarious post. Sometimes real life can be painful, and yet rewarding! I hope everyone reads your post. It's so funny.

I hate bees. I hate them.

Actually, I hate anything with more than four legs.

    Yup, I'm a bug bigot.

I knew it!! I could tell...just look at that evil...uhm look, no uhm...stare...I could tell you had bug hate crimes in your past!

It's true! I even step on them!

I do horrible things like hit them with Aquanet from across the room.

I'm allergic to chocolate. But it doesn't fly around and sting people. Phew. But it does suck.

I am alergic to housework and laundry, and cooking

Oh yeah, I'd rather be stung by a bee than do any of that.

Yellow jacket wasp stings - 20 minutes survival time (breathing cessation - severe multiple allergic reaction - anaphylaxis - shock)
    administer epinephrine immediately when stung
default administer 2 benadryl and call ambulance paramedics to administer epinephrine

At the site of the sting the welt will rise instantly. In five minutes it can become the size of a golf ball. Within an hour it will be the size of half a tennis ball. Hives and itching accompany the reaction. After medical treatment it takes about 2 days for the swelling to go down.

So, I take it that you are allergic, TT???? Now that is terrifying. I didn't realize it could be so deadly so quickly.

I knew it complicated things, but was not aware of the dire need for immediate attention from it.

Holy cow, you sound like my brother. He has under half an hour to get to the hospital if he's stung. He once got a bee in his motorcycle helmet - freaked out so bad he dropped the handlebars! Happened in a remote spot so he had to drive himself to hospital too, all the while his head and face were swelling up...

I'm allergic to lion bites, too many might kill me.
    1. wolfcreek
@urik: I can see why. It's not so much the size but the quantity...hmmmmmm.

lol urikalish...lion bites...my sister is allergic to bee stings and she swells up heaps...I have only ever been bitten on my foot so i dont know how i would react if i got bitten on the neck etc...

I am allergic to mosquito bites. Unless I wear jungle-strength insect repellent, these things will feast on me until I am so swollen and ill that I will need a doc at best and hospital at worst. Last time it happened in Paris less than a year ago. I had to cancel my return flight and had a really pitiful time. I wasn't envisaging a problem at the end of October but I only found one (or in fact, it found me) on a freakish warm day and I was grounded for days afterwards. The remedy is usually copious tabs that put me pretty much to sleep for the duration. Of course, it doesn't matter where they bite; when one is allergic, a sting on the foot, neck, arm of wherever doesn't make a difference. I must have really sweet blood... that'll teach me eating all that chocolate...

My sympathies for that. I suspect it makes it tough to enjoy the outdoors at many times of the year.

My wife and daughter are both mosquito bait. I can stand in a swarm and get one bite.

It is really odd how some bloods, skins or smells attract the pests...

Yes I agree, I am just like my mum, she has the same prob. I live in the north of England, so they are not a problem, but I have a horse and horseflies can be just as terrible, with a difference, the sting actually hurts while it takes place. Now I hang my horsey gear in the bathroom and fumigate it with insect repellent before I go out. It's the only way to stay safe! Yikes.

I'm not allergic to stings. Good thing too, because I fell while playing volleyball a few weeks ago and sat down on a bee.
    1. wolfcreek
You must be the most graceful faller I've ever heard of...despite your bad luck...to be able to sit down before you have completed the fall. Me, I'm arses and elbows all over the place and likely in a crumple.

Well, we share the sting of nature then Calais...(sigh)

Lol! That was a great post. Can't say that I know your pain, I've been somehow lucky enough to never have been stung by a bee, hornet, etc. I've been bitten by horseflies, spiders, and skeeters love me, but never a bee!
    1. wolfcreek
Consider yourself lucky...the lil suckers are quite a trip down pain lane.

      And thanks for the kudos.
