Are You An Angel Or Devil?

Topics: angel, archangels, devil, heaven, hell, limbo, pearly gates
I have recently been recognized as a canonized individual with a beautified soul.
I am presently being looked after by 3 Archangels
which is very rare as everyone usually just has one or so I'm told.
This year I was named a living soul
by the "World Order Of Religious Saints & Holy Inspired Prophets". (hehehe)
Do You Believe In Angels, Archangels and Devils?
Are You An Angel Or Devil?
Which One Of These Sits On Your Shoulders Constantly?
Have You Ever Tried To Switch Them Around Or Do You Play With Both?
Ever Gone Off The Edge And Become Quiet Evil?
Have You Ever Reached The Pearly Gates?
When You Die Do You Believe You Are Going To Heaven, Hell Or Just Stuck In Limbo Somewhere?

Oh no, now you're asking. Yeah he comes out to play quite a bit but I try my best to beat him down - honest!

I don't believe in angels or devils...or heaven or hell or even limbo.
I leave open the possibility of reincarnation since I'm not yet convinced that the energy that powers the body just disappears on death, but at this point, my belief is that when we die, we just die.-
@SweetViolet...Reincarnation always had me wondering.
The word itself seems to imply that your (stuff) goes somewhere for a while
(where we really don't know or for how long we can't really say) and then shows up again
later in time.
It must go somewhere and I would like to know where it goes and why it's later thrown again bound onto the "Wheel of Life" and that is if I believed in Reincarnation. -
My husband is Hindu and reincarnation is part of his culture's belief system. It makes some sense that at least part of your life energy returns to power another body, but some of the "rules" have too much supernatural stuff attached to it for me to believe. For example, you can reincarnate as a "lower" life form (like a dog or donkey) based on how you lived your previous life, or as a more spiritual human. This requires the hand of some kind of sentient supernatural being to make the decision, right? Like St Peter at the Gates who decides if you get into Heaven or not. Since I don't believe supernatural beings exist, that doesn't work for me.
But your life energy being recycled into some new creature, that I could logically accept if the mechanism could be satisfactorily explained. Until then, however, I'm sticking with "when you die, you die." -
@SweetViolet...well if reincarnation is being implied as advanced and unadvanced energies, this implies a caste system of advanced and unadvanced energies, spirit beings or souls.
Since we have evolved and appear to evolve as humans in bodily form, I see no reason why our lifeforce couldn't also evolve and become advance or even become unadvanced.
I guess some of us can be called genetic descenders.
It all seem to go downhill after Eve picked the fruit and stupid Adam didn't protest, he ate it too.

I do believe in Angels and Devils. I believe in Gaurdian Angels and I believe that both Angel and Devil sits on my shoulders. But I would have to say, most of the time I listen to the Angel on my shoulder! The other day, at the self checkout I forgot to pay for a bottle of balsamic vinegar and walked out with it, without getting caught. Being a broke college student I was tempted to just keep it, but I walked back in a paid for it. I felt quite good afterwards.

I am Buddha! So are you!
Everyone has a buddha in within oneself
To discover it, please be enlightened -
I have a whole army of angels.
Leave it to Jeunelle to pick a topic that is actually interesting.
I like to think I have an angelic personality, but there are times when I entertain the devil inside of me.
There is duality (good & evil) in everyone.
I do believe that humans are inherently good and that the good (in ourselves) tends to far outweigh the bad.
Evil is taught to us all by the example/experiences of man's inhumanity to man.
I do not believe there are evil forces outside of the human condition.
There may be however, forces who wish to harm us or who have ill intent, but “Evil” as defined by religion is not something we should concede to, because essentially, we have control over our own level of “Good” or “Bad”ness. And before you contradict me, if you are a religious person, you believe in free will - correct? And if we all have free will, can we not control the level of “Good” that we hold in our intentions?
“The devil made me do it!”
Really?
BULL!!!
That is just someone who is trying to escape the inevitable ramifications (consequences) of ill behavior.
The problem this world faces is not “Evil” in it’s ominous non-physical form. It is, not taking responsibility for our actions and the ramifications of those actions up the whole of the human race. Stop surrendering yourself to the dogma of Good and Bad, Good and Evil. Yes, there are good and bad intentions in the world, but ultimately, it is of our own making. Start taking responsibility and start treating others how you would like to be treated.
Like I said before - I do believe that humans are inherently good.
It’s when we entertain that “bad” or “evil” inside of us and do not take in to account who it is hurting.
Can we start by being responsible there?
The thing is, if we believe that evil exists and abounds in all it’s dark, non-human, non-physical forms, then…we wave the right to change that system and we concede defeat - when in fact, there really is no evil force in which to concede defeat to.
By simply accepting the inevitabilities of a flawed system, we relinquish the power to do anything about it. There is “Evil” in the world because we allow it to exist. What if, instead of seeking retribution or revenge on those who have done us wrong, we instead extended a hand of friendship and love? Is that not what Christ did? Turn the other cheek. “Evil” thrives because of our reaction to it. Shed light in dark places and that darkness will fade. Try and push the darkness away or turn from it, locking it away in the bowels of the very darkness from whence it came will not correct the injustices - it will not resolve or transmute that darkness in to a positive more beneficial energy.
Take responsibility.
Shed light in dark places and the darkness will fade.
You can not destroy the darkness, you can not destroy “Evil” intentions, but you can soften the blow and stop feeding the monster that is “Evil”.
We are each responsible for ourselves and what good and bad things we do to others. If we can start with ourselves and change that, then we can ultimately change the world.
Thanks Janelle

@Dukepro25....good to have you back here on the discussions, you were missed. Yes I do believe that evil shells are called up from the subconcious part of the mind.
It's all what you call up from the tree and feed.
Keep a close eye on the duality between the container and the contained/
The skeleton is the archetypal shell. By itself it is a dead thing, but infuse it with a spark of life and it becomes a numinous and instantly recognizable manifestation of metaphysical evil. The shell is one of the most common horror themes; take a mask, or a doll, or any dead representation of a living thing, shine a light out of its eyes, and becomes a thing of evil intent. The powers of evil appear in the shape of the animate dead - skulls, bones, zombies, vampires-
I am sure there are energies in the universe with ill intent, who may have the powers of possession.
I guess my point is to demystify "Evil".
When we accept that "Evil" is something we can not physically alter or something we have no control over, then that is when we lose the "battle".
Priority wise - I believe we must focus on the "Good" within us.
If we work on ourselves, then the world becomes that much better.
You can not change anyone else, but you can change yourself.
Love & Light, much like Darkness tends to spread.
Also - Keep in mind that Evil or Darkness are simply the absence of Love and/or Light.
BTW: Thanks for the warm welcome Jeunelle.
Glad to be back. -
@Dukepro25....I do get your point, no doubt about it.
I guess I just wanted to ramble on about how the evil comes about
and started to talk about shells and impure earth.
As long as spirit is trapped in matter, we will have a problem of good and evil.
Personally I try to remain neutral and not feed either. -
I'm not talking about everyone in the universe, my questions are directed towards humans here on earth. Which do you feed, angel or devil kind of question? This whole thing makes me question duality even more because I really believe one should remain neutral and not really feed either. Remaining neutral will be harder to master in the present day world but if you can life single and away from worldly things, you may have a better chance of mastering neutrality.
-
"Personally I try to remain neutral and not feed either."
There is a natural progression in the universe.
You can tell which direction that progression is going.
It's not wrong to want to follow that progression.
But everyone goes in a different directions from time to time.
Forcing something is never a good policy.
I don't blame you though.
Live and let live is always best to live by.
Regardless of our individual contributions in the universe, there is a much larger undercurrent of events happening at all times. -
Dukepro25...we are not arguing, though we are starting to sound like a married couple. teeheehee. I do like the points you have raised, it does raise an eyebrow.
Duality is an illusion after all.
The true path & prize is the middle pillar and to walk there one has to remain neutral.
It's late, I'm off to bed...I'll continue this mess tomorrow. Goodnight all

This runs dangerously close to my "Is god for real" link. No, I don't want to include it. I believe perception is reality for any being on earth. Are there more beings out there? Hell, I don’t know but let’s focus on us here on earth. How we perceive the moon on the horizon as bigger is an optical illusion that can be explained. Does it make it look any smaller when you know why? No, it still looks bigger. Unfortunately, none of these questions you ask can be answered with absolute scientific facts like the explanation of the moon illusion. That being said, I personally don't believe some mystical evil or angelic creature is hovering around me trying to influence my decisions to be good or evil. If you could “hover,” wouldn’t you have something so much better to do then mess with people and their petty lives? Don’t you believe it’s arrogant to believe that we are that interesting in the universe? I think people have perceptions that are influenced by life experiences. Law and religion gives them more definition and clarity. When people choose to violate those perceptions and go down the bad path, it’s done so by choice and not by the mind control games of Voltarchasmic, the alternative universe “hovering” demon just hanging around to screw with us.

EnergyNoCrash...of course choice plays a hand in it, that's why I asked which do you feed the most.
I think it's rather funny that no one will come out and openly claim that they do feed evil at one point
or another in their lives, yet the world appears to be infested with both good & evil,
a complete denial yet there it is.
With all the murders, rapes and other evils that go on constantly in the world today,
I find it funny that no one will openly claim to entertain evil at one point of their lives or another.
Why? Could it be that we are taught that evil is a big No No.
Yet God (if one believes in God) claims to have created both Good and Evil or maybe I am mistaken.
Do I believe in Angels, Archangels, Devils and etc?
I don't even believe that most of you would be ready to hear my answer to this one,
so why should I waste my time trying to answer this question?
For now I have chosen to remain neutral and not really entertain either.
By remaining a neutral observer I may later come to the truth.
However for now I don't really care to be told by others, society and religion what the truth should be
for me. I have a gut feeling that sooner or later, truth will come to me or I will find the truth.-
I'll be the first to admit it. Sometimes I am mean to people just because I feel like doing it. Is that evil? I would have to say yes, because evil come in degrees. Not very evil, but a little bit yes.
I don't really believe in the Devil OR angels though, but I consider that odd as (at least I've read) that 95% of humans believe in some type of creator or religion, or at least spirituality. So I am always wondering if I'm completely wrong. -
That was the purpose of my discussion on my thread as well. Here's what I have found in my search for the truth on these matters. The truth is your perception of what YOU hold to be true. Seeking out the truth and getting multiple theories just confuse and create more questions. I know it sounds like I'm arguing for the "ignorance is bliss" model and maybe to some degree I am. I long for that day when I'm comfortable with what I hold to be true and no longer need any further opinions.

Four Translations of the Kamala Sutta Of Buddha
Do not accept anything on mere hearsay (ie, thinking that thus have we heard it for a long time).
Do not accept anything by mere tradition (ie, thinking that it has been handed down thus through many generations).
Do not accept anything on account of rumours (ie, by believing what others say without any investigation).
Do not accept anything just because it accords with your scriptures.
Do not accept anything by mere supposition.
Do not accept anything by mere inference.
Do not accept anything by merely considering the appearances.
Do not accept anything merely because it agrees with your preconceived notions.
Do not accept anything merely because it seems acceptable (ie, should be accepted).
Do not accept anything thinking that the ascetic is respected by us (and that therefore it is right to accept his word.)
When you yourselves directly know, "This is [these things are] unwholesome, this is blameworthy,
this is condemned or censured by the wise, these things when accepted and practised lead to poverty and harm and suffering," then you should give them up.
When you yourselves directly know, "These things are wholesome, blameless, praised by the wise; when adopted and carried out they lead to well-being, prosperity and happiness,"
then you should accept and practise them."
Some really great points raised here at this Link, I am not a Buddhist
but I feel remaining a neutral observer will help me realize what is truth in my investigation.

Hey y'all,
My name is Iras and I'm an African rap lyricist/composer/producer. I've been shaping music for years now and I'm working on my first album who'll be released on June 25th 2009.
It's a story starting on the song 1 and ending on song 18. It's the first chapter of the story about an angel who'll become a devil. That album is entitled Samael Angel and it's also the name of my main character (the angel turning into a devil because of his act and sins).
If you want to read more about it just click on this link www.irasworld.com/iras-music and read the thread "Samael Angel"!!
This album is the first chapter and there will be two more hence this will be a trilogy which name will be : "The Pilgrimage Of Samael Angel".
I hope I'll see you on the website I've created to promote that rap album (www.irasworld.com).
Godspeed,
Sincerely,
Iras -

I'm neither angel nor devil. But while I may see the archangels around and many angels, there are many who regard me as a devil, just because I am not like them. So the churches hate me. My former temple excommunicated me. Yet, I still pray dreams and dream prayers.
I have little use for such labelings. -
