This relates to blog networking, but generally speaking... how do the two compare in your blogging world, and in your non-blogging world?

I like to read a good blog now and then, but as far as reading goes, I'd rather read nonblogs (books, papers, news, magazines), but I like to write too. Are most bloggers more interested in writing blogs than reading blogs? Just wondering out loud.

I am more of a writer than a reader, but I do both.

it depends on my mood. I write more often when I'm feeling more emotional and I feel the need to express myself through words. Writing for me, is thereupetic. Reading is more a more passive activity, it helps me fall asleep. Reading is relaxing. Writing is, as an activity is more stimulating.

good description on the passive/active difference between the two. Yes, writing can be very stimulating. What I like about reading, though it is considered fairly passive, it often stimulates me to write.

Well, right now I'm taking a small breather from my blog so I'm reading more but I like to write. I have to be in the mood to write though. Sometimes it's really difficult to write what I want to say.

I am a writer, check out my blog at blog.thebusinessplace.com/

That's an interesting question. I do enjoy reading blogs, and I read more than I write. But I find that I switch between being a blog reader and a book reader. If I'm in the mood for a book, then there's no pulling me away, and my rss reader gets full of unreads. If I'm in the mood to read blogs, I stop reading books. I am not a writer, though I'd like to become better at it.

I love both, but I think I spend more time reading.

I tend to forget about or lose interest in blogs unless the person writes everyday or more. I'm really not much of a blog reader. The computer hurts my eyes and gives me a headache sometimes. I much prefer reading offline, especially books. Science fiction mostly but I read almost everything.
    1. annz
@hatingtherain - I mostly read sci-fi, too. Any favorites? I need a new book to start.

I prefer to write in a blog than to read one although I will never say no to a good blog post.

Both. What i write about i read my fellow writers to supplement. What i dont know i read. After all i am not an omniscient. Thanks

More of a writer, because it's my job as well as my hobby. But I love reading as well. I read a certain routine of blogs, plus I always have a book going, and also read news online.
    1. freeatlast
sounds like reading feeds your writing.
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
No question. It always has, even before the birth of blogging. It can be really inspirational.

I do both, but it does depend on what time I have to waste. As I'm a student I don't have that much free time (believe it or not) so I spend most of the free time I do have writing. On the weekend though I do like to read other blogs, particularly the ones I follow. I find it interesting how different the styles of writing are in different blogs and how professional they all seem to look.

I am always more of a reader than a writer. But, as you read more, it becomes necessary to write to truly understand what you are reading. Grammar, structure, and many aspects of the written word are not taught by reading. Writing increases the ability to discern the quality, effort, and even truthfulness of what someone is writing.

I like this... yes, as a reader it Does become Necessary to write.

I'm with you exactly. I read a lot, but I don't like to read online; the vast majority of my reading is print publications. There are very few blogs that I read regularly and none at all that I read daily.

lately not much of either, but usually a writer more than a reader

I'm inclined to think that ever writer should be at least as much a reader....

      I'm inclined to agree.

more of a drinker. but any good writer would tell you that you should read more than you write just to make your own writing better.
    1. freeatlast
more of a drinker... best answer yet.
  28. Jhangora
More of a reader than a writer but I love to talk to people I like more than either reading or writing.

It's a very difficult question for me..I love both a lot but I guess I read more than I write but I enjoy writing more than reading!!! Makes sense?

Since I started writing my blog, I read more than ever.
  35. radioflyer1980
In terms of time, I probably write more than I read. For some reason it takes me longer to come with a page of words than to read someone else's words already written down.

However, I do read a lot. I read more off-line - books and newspapers - but I do read some blogs. If I had to pick a site that I follow most often, I really like to wander around Wikipedia.
    1. freeatlast
I admit to a weakness for wikipedia too... i know it's not the most accurate source of information, but it is constantly updated and so easy to reference... it's like jello.
    2. Prongs
God Wikipedia is so addicting. Like pringles. Once you pop (open a page) the fun don't stop. I will go to look up one small thing and 2 hours later I have about 50 windows open and somehow I know more about underwater basket weaving than I ever really wanted to.
  36. jazzy2103
I LOVE reading blogs but it is realy rare that I actually find an interesting one. I LOVE writing though...porbably more than I do Reading.
  37. kbrummell
I'm definately more of a writer than reader. I despised reading in school and never thought I would like to write.

  38. mynameisingrid
Well I do both, but I had to choose I would say I'm more of a writer. It really depends on what I am reading. If for example I'm reading someones blog and every entry is so interesting, than of course I will always go back and read it
  39. CarlLevy
When you start writing you start reading. Mandatory.
  40. agnespages
I am a sucker for a good read.

I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination but I sure love to write.
  41. nothingprofound
I did most of my reading when I was younger. Now I just write.
