With everyone trying to get healthy, I was wondering how many blogcatalog members are actually into health and fitness?
Personally, I'm into yoga, pilates and walking. I used to do a lot of weight training and aerobics, but now find that the results I get from mind/body fitness much more to my temperament as it chills me out as well as keeping me fit.
What type of exercise are you into, if any? I'm really interested, please let me know!!

Since November of 2008 I have been doing P90x and P90x + and have lost 30 pounds and gained muscle. I'm loving it. I was so out of shape and could probably do about 3 pushups (no joke) when I started, now I don't even get out of breath with sets of 50. More importantly I feel better and my Blood Pressure is normal again. This program incorporates Calisthenics, Yoga, Plyometrics, Cardio, Kenpo, Pilates, and probably more. I just love it.

P90 is new to me. Care to fill me in?

I press some weight, and jog/HIIT.

I also do yoga, but I never thought of it as a "fitness" thing. It's just something that I feel good when I do, and feel bad/weird/stiff/wired when I don't - got introduced to it at 8-years-old or so. It was fun, most of the poses were named after animals

I lift 2 ounces of chocolate chip cookie to my mouth many times during the day it is exhausting!

      your training program sounds delicious...

I ride a bicycle to and from work, hit the gym for lifting 4 days a week, run 3 days a week and do yoga.

Besides that I do random active things like play frizby, shoot hoops, hike, etc.... I have gotten most people I know into a healthy lifestyle so we can all enjoy such things.

The most important thing however is proper eating. Get rid of the garbage food folks.
  7. Guzzo
Unfortunately, I'm more on a fatness program.
  8. LikeitWinit
Yup, gym 3 times weekly. I run and take classes. Does the mind and body good.

One of these days I'll find the resolve to start back up...

    Maybe *g*

I breathe heavily, however I'm worried that the phone company might disconnect my line for doing so.

I've been using Wii Fit 4-5 days a week for the past 8 months. It's an awesome fitness program...plus, it's a lot of fun!

I have a part-time job that I work at for 2-3 hours five days a week where I do continuous heavy lifting...I'm the only girl. =) That's my daily squat work-out. It's hard, but I like how hard it is. I also run on the treadmill once or twice a week for an hour at the gym...and on the weekend I will hit a yoga class. And last but not least I do PX90 3 days a week. Basically, what I'm saying is..I get more than one work-out in every day because of my job.
I like being strong. It feels good and it keeps me healthy. I'm hardly ever sick...I used to get sick all the time...and I like the way it makes my body look.
  17. Arcticulates
    maybe... tomorrow!
  18. JaydenVasara
i hit the gym 5 days a week to do cardio and weight training, then i stick to a strict diet at home
  19. evilsquirrel01
I jog every morning and count my calories.
  20. slimmingsolutions
I go to gym 3 times a week and also do circus class on Sundays (trapeze and silks) gotta have a lot of strength for that x
  21. pillownaut
Another gym-addict, LOL... but that can get boring if you don't vary it. I get there about 4 times a week to use various machines, and I love the new Precor Adaptive Motion Trainer, it's a GREAT cardio workout but easy on the knees.

I lift weights a few times per week for bone strength, which I must be *vigilant* about for my NASA research projects. i have a pool so i swim a lot too, and I like to jog or roller-blade around my neighborhood. Variety is my key to staying interested!
    1. slimmingsolutions
I have some variety in my gym workout...the personal trainer has given me different programmes on different machines just so that I don't get sick of doing the same thing each time I go to gym, otherwise I will drift off and end up not going lol.

Also at cicrus we do new moves on the trapeze every week. We have hula hoops that are great for core muscles too. We try to do as much stuff outside if we can so we can get fresh air (and the odd bit of sun!!) haha x
    2. pillownaut
trapeze!! i never thought of that, wow... and a hula hoop. that would be a great thing to have. i haven't even seen one of those in years! and you nailed it, getting outside for air and sun is also very important. i think folks are more likely to stick with it if you do something different every day

Trail running, cross conditioning circuit training at the local park( I run, do sprints & series of exercises on the playground equipment - hey, use what you can & be outside when you can), higher intensity bodyweight cross training exercises, MMA, Meditation. In 20 years of working with others to help them achieve health and wellness I've more recently directed people to incorporate simple effective home based strategies of cross conditioning in 10-30 min. routines improving cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, balance and decreasing bodyfat. It's easier to fit into a schedule & saves money on the gym. Guess I shouldn't say that since I had a fitness business but it is true.

Brisk walking on a treadmill at home. Better than nothing. Right?
  24. jafabrit
I walk an hour almost daily on the bike trail in town and 20 to 30 mins nightly walking the dog. If weather is bad then it's on the treadmill I go.

Been a slacker lately, though I was in a 10 k july 11th though. I like to do yoga, pilates, weight lift. I was taking boxing but then my gym closed down with no explanation and with the economy I'm trying to workout on my own. Motivationally challenged lately though.
  26. greencurmudgeon
Yes. On weekdays, I get up at 5 AM and run a little over a mile. Every day, I also do 30 minutes on the exercise bike (hill programme, maximum tension) and abs training and push ups.
  27. nothingprofound
Not a program, it's pretty capricious. I jog a couple days a week, do lots of walking, and my gymnastics conditioning.
  28. melindaville
Yes, I am. I go running, swimming, bike riding, or another form of cardio every single day. I do yoga and strength training (also) a few times a week.

I actually don't feel good unless I work out (and that wasn't always the case). I think I might be addicted to working out now!
    1. RTBjr73
Maybe you could help John Smoltz...whatever program HE is on, it ain't working for his pitching
    2. melindaville
Tell me about it, Tommy! I am sick the MFY's are now in 1st!!

I run about 20 miles a week and occasionally compete in 5ks or 10ks. I also bike about 15 miles a week.

Just had my third child in 4 years, I should be on a fitness program. I've started riding my stationary bike, soon will come the workout videos, yoga and weight lifting. My body is itching for them.
  39. stayfitbug
practicing what i preach, so yea
  40. PetLvr
I "run" a lot of scenarios in my mind ... and "work out" solutions to client problems .. and continue to have a monthly debit mortgage payment to my fitness club each month.

My wife, on the other hand, is a regular to everything fitness, has run a few half-marathons and 10km races this year, and used to be a fitness instructor years ago.

Although I walk, walk the dogs, bike, swim and do the treadmill, I am not motivated as much as I should be, and tend to think that my 'fitness program' is to be healthy and fit by the time I retire .. The only problem being, that I'll probably never retire and die working - so, I'll never truly be fit.
  41. idealpinkrose
I used to run with my running machine at home but I realized that it's better to go jogging with my hubby so we do it every morning. I also sometimes do some stretching while watching tv.
  42. anthony9910
no, but if i went to one, i would probably disappear, since i'm very slim looool
  43. Selvia
I just joined the gym 2 months ago. I know and feel that my stamina has improved. Intially it was difficult, me being on he heavy side but as I kept working out now things are better.
  44. namibnat
Yeah, a mix of weight training at home and various balancing exercises and lots of walking.
