i signed up a couple of days ago, but i really don't know a darn thing about it...haven't taken the time to really check it out...
  3. cymrusteve
hahaha i saw your little picture show up and thought "I bet Lisa knows all about it...."

oh well, maybe someone else can give an overview..

hehe...sorry my friend...i got nuttin' here!

It's basically the same as DIGG. User's can vote up or down articles that they find interesting.
  5. clioandme
No, but I've starting noticing it. What's the big deal? Is it any more flexible than Digg, which I dislike? Does it have better categories?

I noticed it is a lot of Bush stuff.
  6. FemmedeBat
I don't know anything about it, either.

I have gotten 75 hits from reddit since I submitted one of my own articles two days ago. But my article is a programming how-to, which is perfect for the subsite programming.reddit.com. Since there are fewer articles there, my post stayed high in the "new" list for more than 24 hours. On digg, new articles get buried in minutes.

I find reddit readers/commenters are a clique, and a bit snobbish. If you don't fit in, expect your articles to get buried. I got one person to actually comment on my blog, which is nice. So for me, a programming geek, I got some quality readers from reddit.

If your niche is in-line with the reddit hivemind, then it can be a great marketing tool. Otherwise, digg is probably better.

I can't figure out how to add you. lol

I joined long ago, but did not really use it until now.

I made you my friend, PrettyLady! Here's my profile: reddit.com/user/geminito/

I also gave your post a boost.
    2. PrettyLady
I would thumb up your article, but I'm not a programmer and had to ask hubby what you were talking about. lol Thanks for the boost.
    3. geminito
LOL. Don't bother if it is nonsense to you. Thanks anyway!

I was just using that post to give Reddit a try. I got about the same number of buries as I got diggs (or whatever they're called on reddit), so I'm not sure what that means. I don't think I want to be attracting attention from such a critical, polarized community.
    4. PrettyLady
I'm not sure I'll be sticking around either.

I've been a member for at least a month I think. I haven't really gotten much traffic from it though. Probably because I was the one submitting my own posts haha.

here's my link if anyone would like to add me!

Hello, sorry I have been away. I just started using it. I started because Chris over at Lighter Footstep has had some success with it. Its sort of like Digg but I don't think you need as much votes to get on top and they say if you make it up to the top you can definitely get more traffic and he said that a lot of people also end up subscribing which is key to why I decided to join.

You can get on the front page of Digg but how many actually become your readers?

Having friends and making friends is good on there because you can vote for each other like Digg, Hugg, and Stumble.

Just a suggestion... just put the title of the post and take out the blog title.. there's a link to it on the right if you look.. will do some more research and get back to you guys.

They also have a recommended button like StumbledUpon which shows you articles or posts you might be interested in depending on how you vote

reddit.com/help/faq had some good information about how to use Reddit effectively.

It also suggested messaging other users and adding them as your friends too

I find most social networks to be a bit clickish.. aren't we a bit clickish here too.

I finally went there. Really hard to get around. No news or topical categories of any kind.

I think the purpose of reddit is for someone to submit a post they find good and relevant. If you start submitting all your own articles you become a joke and really no one is going to read them. A hit alone means nothing.

That having been said I think I have probably done it myself once or twice. I have not been there is some time.

The friend thing like with Digg, makes the quality of everything on there go down. It was originally about good content, now it seems to be a social network without regard for content.

    yup i agree

Except for the last time submitting to Reddit consistently drew hundreds of visitors to my site, even when I wasn't getting voted up. Last time though it brought only one visitor. :-O

I think the difference was the last time I submitted was on a weekday, early morning. I thought that would be the ideal time but it turned out to be just the opposite.

I find Digg and Netscape much more valuable than Reddit - I've had two stories make it to the Digg front page. But Reddit certainly can't hurt.

Here are my links. Happy to brefiend anyone here!

It is very random.. I just started using it and some people liked it and some people don't.. I am kind of undecided about it.. ok, if you can't submit your own posts then what's the point?
    1. PaulLev
You can submit your own posts. It may turn some people off - but if it gets you readers anyway, that's the point.
    2. dharmagypsy7
      I agree.. that's why I joined

Well, just added a feature on Reddit to my Harry Potter party ideas page, so we'll see what happens with that.

    Seemed timely, anyway!

One of my post is hitting the hot top 10 on reddit right now. Anyone know how much I will receive in total in term of traffic? My first experience with reddit since I started with my blog. I guess I gonna sign up with them.
